Julia's November Prettier Plaques Stencil Release!

Right about now, you might be picking out the fattest turkey or turning pumpkins into Thanksgiving pies, but I'm popping the bubbly and preparing to ring in 2018! Yes indeed, this month, I've got three new five-piece Prettier PlaquesTM stencil sets designed to celebrate the New Year, as well as reminders of several festive New Year's sets that were previously released.

But before we get to those reveals, please humor me as I remind you of some important changes to my partner Stencil Ease's business. Ever since I started referring to it as "Confection Couture Stencils" last month, people have been asking me, "What happened to Stencil Ease?!" No need to panic. Stencil Ease is Confection Couture Stencils! They simply re-branded the cookie stencil part of their business in order to better distinguish it from their long-standing commercial and industrial lines historically sold under the Stencil Ease name. Last month, they also created a whole new site, also called Confection Couture, just for their cookie stencils and my line. If you haven't yet checked out the new site, please do! It's a heck of a lot more user-friendly, but, most important, the old site is no longer getting updated, and all cookie stencil commerce is now being conducted from the new site.

Also, very important: both the Stencil Ease (correction - Confection Couture! ) service phone number and email have changed to 888-879-7319 and service@confectioncouturestencils.com, respectively. If you misplace this information, you can always find it in the "Contact Us" section at the bottom of the new site. If you have any questions or feedback about the new site or any of these changes, please direct them to service@confectioncouturestencils.com.

Now, onto that New Year's release! I've got classic fireworks ("Happy New Year"); a dreamy clock striking midnight ("Make a Wish"); and the Stencil of the Month* ("Pop the Bubbly"), a plethora of popped champagne bottles with the apt message "Pop! Fizz! Clink!" If you're not familiar with my Stencil of the Month Club, through which you can get the Stencil of the Month and other stencils at great savings, then please read the asterisked footnote at the very bottom of this post, or click on the previous link.

October Release

In the graphic above, you'll also see a nod to "New Year's Eve!", aka "New York New Year", one of my previously released New Year's sets. Please be sure to check it out, along with my three other oldies-but-goodies under the "New Year's" section on the Confection Couture Stencils site. There are many Confection Couture-branded stencils there too!

Before I let you go, just a few words about each of the new sets, starting with the Stencil of the Month, "Pop the Bubbly". This five-piece set is great for New Year's Eve, but also for any other special celebration! I don't have any videos for you this month, but this set and the others go together in my classic way, which you can see on my YouTube channel in tutorials for some other sets. I prefer the very graphic pop of black (and other dark colors) on white to show off the details of these stencils, but you could also use metallics on a darker or black background for a more subtle and shimmery effect. Here, I airbrushed three colors: Chefmaster Hawaiian Blue for the streamers and shading around the message; AmeriMist Regal Purple for shading on the streamers; and Chefmaster Midnight Black for the bottles, frame, and message. I also added free-form pops of the blue and purple on the bottle labels after all five stencils in the set had been used.

Pop Better - USE

The New Year isn't the New Year without fireworks, right? Silly me, but I failed to release any pyrotechnics when my first New Year's stencils came out in late 2016, so, this month, I'm making up for lost ground with "Happy New Year"! Here, I airbrushed the background fireworks with a combination of Chefmaster Hawaiian Blue, AmeriMist Regal Purple, and AmeriMist Electric Purple, which looks sort of pink in the photo. The message and frame were done in Chefmaster Midnight Black, and once all of the stenciling was done, I randomly sprayed AmeriMist Electric Green on top to fill in some of the blank space. The possible color combinations with this set are countless, but I opted to use essentially the same palette across all three new sets, so they could harmoniously coexist on a platter or in a large grouping.

See what I mean? In "Make a Wish", pictured below, I used the same three colors used on "Pop the Bubbly", with the addition of free-form shading with AmeriMist Regal Purple around the cookies edges.

There's one nuance to this set, however, that's worth pointing out. In order to locate the sleepy eye on the moon, it could not be included on the background stencil if I also wanted to have coloring within the moon. Since I did (!), I placed the eye on the frame stencil in this set, at a healthy distance from the frame to avoid overspraying accidents:

And, that's all for this release, except for one quick heads-up! I'm introducing a brand new stencil series next month, which, for the foreseeable future, will displace new Prettier PlaquesTM releases. For those of you who don't like change , have no fear! I think this sub-series will be even better, as it's specifically designed to allow for even more versatility (think: mixing-and-matching galore)! And Stencil of the Month Club members will still receive a collection of stencils of equivalent or more value for the same monthly price.

'Til then, please wait with bated breath  and live sweetly!

If you are viewing this post before 11:30 am central on November 16, my apologies, but the links to new products will appear missing until this time. My partner did not synchronize the opening of these links on their site with this post. Please return later, and you will find them open. So sorry. We'll eventually get our synchronization better.

Thanks! Sorry the links are still not working to the Confection Couture site. My partner had some issues with scheduling their posts to their own site. Hopefully they will have them fixed, and the links will all be open soon!

Thank you for working so hard to make a great product!  I noticed this month the shipping was much lower.  Thanks!

YES! That was another motivation for going to a new site!

Amazing!!! I love that these stencils can be used for more than one occasion. I can easily see the one with clock striking midnight used for Cinderella themed cookies. Or the Popped champagne bottles for a wedding.

Thanks AGAIN!  I'm glad you noticed, because we do try to make them multi-purpose whenever we can. It's not always easy to do that though!
