More Milestone Awards!

Woo hoo! I'm thrilled to announce that @Manu and @Laegwen are the latest recipients of our Milestone Award. As a reminder, our Milestone Award is given to those contributors who have served the site for a year or more by providing outstanding tutorials, articles, challenges, or chats. Without these contributors, Cookie Connection wouldn't be nearly as interesting or educational as it is. In short, this award is my small way of saying thank you for the HUGE amount of enthusiasm, creativity, and hard work donated by our volunteer contributors.

In recognition of their accomplishments, both Manu and Leoni (aka Laegwen) will receive this flashy crystal trophy, or something very similar, custom-engraved to mark their service on Cookie Connection:

Milestone%20Trophy

For those of you not familiar with Leoni's contributions to the site, she writes our wonderful bimonthly Get Inspired tutorials, which you can find here. Likewise, Manu writes the Made by Manu blog feature each month. Both contributors have set the standard in tutorial-writing through their creative conception of cookie projects, their detailed step-by-step instructions, and their lovely and illustrative photos. If you haven't yet checked out their tutorials, I urge you to do so, as they are a treasure trove of information.

To learn more about Manu and Laegwen, please read their mini bios below. But before you do, please extend them a huge "congratulations" and "thank you"!

Leoni Eckart, aka Laegwen, contributes every other month to Get Inspired with Laegwen, a series of cookie decorating tutorials that follow her personal experiments with gumpaste, royal icing, and other cookie decorating materials and methods. Leoni started her baking career way before her own memory sets in, decorating Christmas cookies with her mother (at least that's what she's been told!), and has never entirely stopped puttering around in the kitchen since. Her first decorated cookies as an adult were her own wedding favors, and then, over Christmas 2014, her cookie fever went into overdrive! As of present, it shows no signs of cooling off. Manuela Pezzopane, affectionately called Manu by her friends and family, is the author of the blog feature Made by Manu, where each month she shares the method behind a magical cookie of her own making. A fan of everything handmade, Manu professes to have tried every possible hobby. However, it wasn’t until the end of 2014, when an American friend invited her to a Christmas cookie exchange, that she first discovered decorated cookies. In 2015, after watching Julia M. Usher's videos and signing up on Cookie Connection, Manu finally attempted her own. Since then, cookie decorating has become Manu’s passion – one that she continues to develop by actively participating in the challenges hosted by fellow Cookie Connection contributor Bakerloo Station. Married with two children in college, Manu harks from Rome, Italy, but currently resides in Dubai. You can email Manu at manubiscottidecorati@gmail.com, follow her on Facebook and Instagram, or catch her past Cookie Connection posts here.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the time and effort each of you devotes to creating tutorials of high quality and interest for all levels of cookiers . You both are very special ladies to me personally and I'm very happy for the recognition that @Julia M. Usher is giving you with these gorgeous crystal vases.

These gifts are so well deserved and they demonstrate the grace and quality community that @Julia M. Usher has created with CC.  Congratulations!!

Thank YOU, @Julia M. Usher, and congrats Leoni @Laegwen.

I am so happy and honored to receive this recognition. I signed up to Cookie Connection two years ago, after watching Julia’s videos. I found an amazing supportive community of cookiers and from them I started to learn little by little, thanks to the tips shared in the comments to their clips. I kept learning by exploring every corner of the site by reading the forums, the tutorials, the “Toolbox”, and by participating to the PBP Challenges and to the chats. When I was given the chance to become contributor I was truly honored and it was my opportunity to give something back. Thank you Julia for everything YOU do for us. Serving as a contributor made me realize even more how much of your time and dedication you put into the site. You deserve an Award for this.

Thank you, @Econlady, Christine @Bakerloo Station, Anne @GinkgoWerkstatt, Karine @Le Monnier du Biscuit, Samantha @Aproned Artist, Liesbet @Liesbet, Teri @Teri Pringle Wood, Zara @carouselselsel, Diane @Cookie Celebration LLC, Biljiana @Biljana Kovacevic, Christine @Sweet Prodigy - Christine, Filomena @Dolce Flo, Ryoko @Ryoko ~Cookie Ave., Carol @Cookies Fantastique by Carol, and Evelin @Evelindecora for you kind comments.

With all the great content you two pump out, it feels like it’s been far longer than a year. Congrats!

Well, Leoni actually had her year anniversary back in May 2017. But, since I only issued a forum announcement about it, I decided to include her again in this blog post!
