Beautiful!  I wondered about you the other day and looked for another wonderful display.  I love the entire set!  Are the words done free hand writing or did you trace first then pipe?  I tried fitting words on a cookie and didn't achieve the look...

Thank you! This time I wrote free hand. First, I looked at some casual calligraphy writing and practiced piping some words. I found out "cherish" is easy to write, at least easier than "Be mine" or "Happy."

You always do fantastic work.  Even though I had a large plaque cookie I couldn't get the letters on the cookie.  Yes - you know I did - got discouraged and set it aside.  Shaking my head.  I love every detail of your work.

These cookies are absolutely amazing, but I am curious about the taste. I have had horrible luck at getting my black icing to taste anything but bitter. I am so curious as to what I am doing wrong. I have only been doing cookies for 2 years so I am still learning.

Hi Tanya,

I'm sorry I didn't notice your comment for a long time. I hope you'll see this reply.

I use black cocoa powder to colour RI, instead of colour gel. (I also use black cocoa powder for my cookie dough.)  You can get very black colour from black cocoa powder.
The problem is it changes RI texture a little bit and it's difficult to get the right consistency for piping detail.  I use black colour gel only when I want to pipe details with black icing.

I love the look and taste of black cocoa powder.

When you say "black cocoa powder" do you mean Dutch processed (dark) cocoa powder?  How much do you use to get a black RI?

As usual your work solicits o-o-o's and ah-h-h's.  Just beautiful.
