Gingerbread House - Mushroom Cottage

The golden little stars in the roof windows are giving it away: This should have actually been a snowed-in mushroom cottage for Christmas, but I’ve never gotten around finishing the thing… until now. So spring has sprung (the white, snowy roof painted over), and the flower beds and bushes are in full bloom.

The structure is made of molded gingerbread, and the decoration entirely of royal icing and Isomalt. It’s 23cm high, and has become an amalgam of a few new different techniques that came to mind, and that I had to try out… a bit of a weird practice piece as such ��.

The weather cock on the roof, windows, and stems of tree and potted plants are made of Isomalt.
