I put some cookie dough into a scillicone mold, froze it, popped it out, and placed it on the cookie. Then I put the tray in the freezer for about 15 minutes before baking. So yes, I baked the cookies with the roses on top.

What a great idea!!! Love it . I'll have to give that a try sometime as I have several silicone molds of different flowers. Shortbread is so fragile and you didn't have any problems with breakage?

I didn't. Maybe because the rose was so chunky.
