Ha, gotcha! There is no September site artist this month, so you are stuck with some images using my latest back-to-school stencil set ("A+ Teacher") from my Prettier Plaques TM stencil line! They didn't quite fit the fixed spaces of our banner and background as beautifully as our members' previous site submissions have, but I hope they convey the suggestion of "back to school", the prevailing theme of this month - and the preoccupation of most moms right now! ** IMPORTANT - I NEED YOUR...Read More...

How to Edit or Delete Your Own Content

Julia M. Usher
Hi, all, I've been receiving an unusually large number of questions about how members can edit or delete their own content. It's super important for you to know how to do this, as I typically do not edit posts for people, unless I happen to see a misclassified image or other typo. It can also take me several hours to days to respond to site inquiries like this, as I work several other jobs. That being said, your surest bet for getting a quick answer is to familiarize yourself with our site...Read More...

Important Reminder about Copying and Posting Characters without Permission

Julia M. Usher
Hi, all, regrettably, I've recently had to delete some images from challenges and other areas of the site due to lack of compliance with Rule #8 of our posting guidelines, which states that artwork (including characters, from Disney, Hasbro, etc.) cannot be copied and posted here without permission from the creator : http://cookieconnection.juliau...READ-BEFORE-YOU-POST In response to those deletions, some members have asked me why so many licensed character cookies exist on the site,...Read More...

Adjusting Your Email Notifications and Onsite Alerts

Julia M. Usher
We all have different message-reading tastes, so Cookie Connection has been designed to allow for everyone's individual differences! The site's default email and onsite alert notifications are set to show you most of the site info that you could get notified about, just so you're aware of the site's full functionality. But I recognize that this amount of info may (or may not) be overkill for you. That said, I recommend that you edit your "Notifications" settings as soon as you join the site...Read More...

Costs/Licensing Requirements of Starting Cookie Business in Dubai

Manu
Hi Perla, I just read this post and noticed you are writing from Dubai. I have just moved here last month. Glad to know a Cookie Connection member living here as well! I am not interested in selling my cookies, but I am interested in every aspect related to cookies. Samantha @Aproned Artist mentioned the costs of business in the U.S. (CFO permit fee, business licence fee, ecc). In Italy if someone want to sell homemade food then needs to open a IAD (Impresa Alimentare...Read More...

Questionable Subject Matter - Should I Accept Order or Not?

Hi, everyone! I recently booked an order for someone I went to school with. She is ordering for her own birthday and is obsessed with the TV show Supernatural. I had never seen it so wasn't really familiar with it. When we started discussion about details for her order, she requested symbols used on the show. I have attached a pic she sent me. Apparently these are supposed to be symbols of protection against evil, although they are similar to satanic symbolism (pentagrams, etc.). I'm torn...Read More...

Hi, gals - I have a somewhat interesting situation and I'm not quite sure how to respond. I found myself wondering if other cookie artists have ever been in the same situation and how they have responded . . . so here it goes! Recently, I had an order inquiry for bachelorette party cookies. She texted me a photo of what she was interested in and the color scheme was very cute - black, white, pink, and gold - and the cookies were decorated well. The only problem is that there were several...Read More...

Cookie Order Forms

Cookie Lovin Mom
Hi! I hope this is place for this, but I have my first paid customer and I am wondering if anyone uses an order form to send to the customer to fill out, and, if so, if you are willing to share, or at least share what information you request? If someone is willing to share your order form, or what information you get from the customer, that would be great! In Illinois, customers have to pay in person in our county, so I am wondering if you require a deposit as well? Thank you! WendyRead More...

One Big Cookie or a Bunch of Small?

Rojosells
I am going to be selling old fashioned-style cookies (chocolate chip, oatmeal, pb, etc.) at fairs and was wondering if it's better to sell one large cookie or bagged half and full dozen. Anyone have experience with which are more popular? There aren't too many fairs or markets around here and most are very pricey for a table. I guess I can offer both and see how it goes. Thanks!Read More...

Selling at a Fall Festival

Brigitte Thiele
Hello, I have rented booth space to sell cookies at a small town fall festival next weekend. It was $30 for a day and a 20x20' spot. Attendance is around 1500 to 2000 people. I have been selling a few orders here and there and have started building a good business. But . . . I need some ideas and help with a festival booth. I am ok on all the laws and regulations. What I need is advice from people who may have done this or people with insight. For example . . . Do I put a few cookies out as...Read More...

Large Cookie Order - How to Execute the Project?? 750 Cookies!

Hi all, I've received a prospective enquiry about providing 750 royal-iced cookies for next year. I haven't accepted the order as I'm completely stumbled as to how to go about executing such a large number of cookies so I would appreciate any feedback for the following questions: 1) I cannot bake that many cookies at home, so I'm trying to find a commercial kitchen with a large oven I could use. I've contacted local community centers and a couple of restaurants to no avail. Any ideas on how...Read More...

Practice Inventory - What to Do with It?

Ms. K
Forgive me if this seems like a strange "I should already know" question, but as you all practice, to whom or where to you give all of your practice inventory? How many practice cookies at a time are you using? I find myself making at least a dozen per practice, usually only doing 3-4 cookies each decor? I'm home-based, but do not have a lot of business, so I need to watch how my product is used. Any suggestions would wonderful. Thank you Charlette Ms. K's Goodies N ThingsRead More...

Advice on Working with Party Planner

Lisa Marie Loosier
I started working with a party planner that creates mock parties for photo shoots a few months ago. She actually ordered cookies for her son's birthday and paid, but said she had a photo shoot coming up and would like a donation. I donate cookies in exchange for professional photos and exposure. But I can see now on her personal Instagram that she is actually using them for her other son's birthday! I guess as long as I get pictures I shouldn't complain? But that seems a bit unethical. Thoughts?Read More...

Very Strange Customer Phone Call

Bella Sucre
I just received a call from a woman checking on her order due for this weekend. After looking up her name, address, email, phone and any combination of, no order was to be found. She states that this is her 3rd order. I attempt to look up any orders by product shipped to her state. Nothing. I ask that she look at her billing statement to see if our # is listed. She doesn't have it. She's moved recently and doesn't have it. I tell her that I believe she must be mistaken and really ordered...Read More...
