In response to those deletions, some members have asked me why so many licensed character cookies exist on the site, presumably without having the necessary permissions.
Here is my response. Please be sure to read it carefully:
Yes, as noted in our site guidelines, we frown upon people copying character cookies without permission, and do not want copied character images on the site if permissions were not obtained. Yes, I am aware that many others don't follow the rules and post character cookies without permission. I point out as many of these errors as possible to those making them, but I am one person and simply don't have the time to keep up with the many errors of this sort each week.
I expect people to read our rules (which they receive on sign-up and which are posted in many areas on the site) and to act on the honor system and follow rules without reminders, but it is practically impossible for me to enforce this rule across the board. However, when images of this sort get into visible challenges or other areas of the site (or when I or other contributors/members happen to notice or report them), we simply have to enforce the rule, as it is not fair to others who have followed the rules.
