I love this kind of stuff, and can't wait for more people to add their ideas and examples!  A couple years ago, for our annual gingerbread house decorating party, I came up with a fun idea.  Now, I don't typically actually serve sweets at our gingerbread parties (people eat enough candy and icing, and need some savory snacks instead!), but when I came up with this idea, I knew I HAD to make it!

Christmas Scene Cookie Backdrop

See the backdrop to the beverage table?  It's made of cookies!  (Well, the hills are styrofoam, but the houses, barns, trees, etc. are all the cookies on display!)

I wanted to evoke a classic, folk art painting, because I thought that style of art would go well with the only somewhat 3-dimensional concept I had for creating the styrofoam mount for the cookies.  And I love how it turned out!  I have the DIY tutorial on my blog here:  http://www.tikkido.com/node/426

Wow, this is so creative! I love it. Even though I've always lived in an urban or suburban lifestyle I'm so drawn to rustic, "out in the country, old Americana, and especially when I decorate my house at Christmas time. I just LOVE this idea. You're very talented!
