Just wondering if there will be a time for newbies to post some of our cookies. I by no means compare to the talented, highly skilled mastery I've seen here. But I'm open to critique. How else can we learn.

Hi, Diva! Every day is a time for newbies to post their cookies!  The site and I in no way restrict who posts cookies here - we are an "equal opportunity" and exposure site in every way, and I encourage all skill levels to jump in and contribute!

Since I see every photo posted to the site, I can personally attest to the fact that we have everyone from self-proclaimed beginners to advanced decorators posting on a regular basis. (Perhaps you are only looking at the "Top 10 Cookies" feed, which reflects those photos that are most viewed and liked during each day? Yes, usually the work of more experienced decorators lands here, but not always.)

If you want to see the full range of content posted to the site, just click on Clips/View All in the main navigation line, or to see the latest posts, click on the "Newest Cookies" feed on the home page, which reflects ALL of the most recently posted content on the site.

Again, there's no better way to learn than to jump in, post your stuff, and ask for people to assist you in the caption or comments area of your posts. Don't be shy, and please don't be intimidated. Everyone here was a beginner at one time, and learned because someone else taught him or her! In my experience, this community has been very generous in giving back by sharing knowledge and techniques. I think you will also find that to be the case if you take the leap!

Also, you can always seek feedback/advice in our forums by posting questions and images for critique there. The "Technique Tips" forum is a great place to do something like this without having "experimental" or "practice" cookies landing in home page photo feeds.

Go for it girl!

Hi! I'm a Newbie, too- I'm 3.5 months new to cookie decorating now! I love that this site is open to all skill levels. I watched a lot of the tutorials listed in the blogs on this site and it has really helped me practice technique. I've been submitting pics weekly since I first started and I was thrilled when I finally saw two of my pics uploaded in the Today's Top 10 two days in a row this week! Keep posting pics! People here are so encouraging! I really love this cookie community ;-)

Thanks, Chu-A-Cookie for the kind words about the site!

Also, to clarify for everyone: the photos in the "Top 10" are not hand-picked or hand-uploaded by anyone; they are automatically determined by the site based on how many views, comments, and likes each image receives each day. So, just by posting, you dramatically increase your odds of showing up there. (Of course, Chu-A-Cookie posted some lovely cookies too! But, the point is: life is about taking leaps in order to grow and get recognized.)

I've also had the pleasure of seeing relative newcomers to cookie decorating skyrocket on this site. Take, for instance, Teri Pringle Wood (and there are others!). Though a painter in a previous career and a woman with art in her genes, she has only been cookie decorating for two years. But she faithfully practices each day (and posts here at least a few times day). In this time, she's developed a highly distinctive style of her own and a loyal following here. She was nominated for our "Cookier of the Year" Award last year. So, anything is possible with work and practice!
