I need to ship cookies next week but am afraid what the heat might do to them. It looks like it will be in the 90s here. Do any of you have any experience with this or suggestions?

Thanks, Kate

Best of luck! I rarely shipped when I had my business, as I didn't like the risk involved and stayed busy enough with local clientele, so I'm hoping someone else will weigh in!

I don't ship professionally, but for family and friends occasionally. And I have never worried about the temperature, cookies are not that much affected by heat. Or are they? Now I start to wonder if I should have worried about the temperature *lol*

Whatever, I just shipped cookies to my sister, on the few really hot days we had here so far in summer, about 90 too, and there were absolutely no problems because of that. The problem were two broken cookies, but I doubt that they were caused by the climate.

Maybe I was just lucky so far, but I absolutely believe that 90° are no big deal for cookies. They've spent some time in the oven, after all

I keep wondering if I could duplicate the process and put a package of cookies in my mailbox for the day.  I individually bag my cookies and heat seal the bag.  Would being in an airtight situation cause a problem.

I think it could be a problem. If any moisture is in the cookie (or it's also really humid), the cookie bag could act like a little sauna and steam the cookie. But I'd love to hear the results of your test under different heat and humidity levels! Let us know!

My husband putting it in the car all day.  I have some cookies that will not be eaten.  I'll package them and see what happens.

I had an accident yesterday and I will look into the experiment tomorrow when I feel better.

Gosh, I hope it wasn't serious. Do take care!

I was chasing off some turkeys and I stepped on an uneven surface and fell down on the cement.  I twisted my ankle, bruised and scrapped both knees and tweaked my neck and shoulder.  I'm calling it turkey karma.

@Econlady, you poor dear.  How awful.  I can see chasing chickens away, but turkeys?  Therein lies a story.   Don't push it, rest.

We have wild turkeys in our neighborhood that peck at our lawn and poop on our driveway.  At first they were cute, but have definitely become pests.

You ok? Accidents can be so very scary...and sometimes the results of one doesn't show up until after some time has passed. Please take care!!

Thanks for caring

I don't take orders that require shipping during the hottest months here in AZ. Every summer our temps climb above 110 and often go up to 117 or higher (but it's a DRY heat . I don't want to risk even 2-3 day shipping in this kind of heat ).

I have put a box of cookies in the neighbors car.  I'll pull them out tomorrow and then let you know what happened.

I’m sorry I forgot to say what happened.  I put the cookies in a neighbors car for 24 hours during the middle of a hot summer day.  The car is kept outside.  Some cookies were in a heat sealed bag and the rest were in the box without bags.  All looked fine, but the chocolate ones cookies in the bag fell apart when handled, but tasted okay.  The vanilla ones were very soft, but held together.  The cookies without a bag looked fine but were very hard.  The vanilla cookies were so hard that they were difficult to break.
