Dear lovely cookie community

My partner and I (known as Bickie Blessings) have been making decorated cookies for the last 3 years. It started out as a Christmas project for family and friends and we were hooked from then on. About a year after we started doing it, we decided to start a little business and to take orders. We live in Albany Western Australia and at the end of October a major event is being held here. The  Albany Convoy Commemorative Event (ACCE) will  commemorate the 100th anniversary of the departure of the first convoy of ships  that carried the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) and the New Zealand  Expeditionary Force (NZEF) to the First World War. They are expecting about 60 000 people to attend this event. The City counsel put out calls for local people to apply to have a stall at this event and they then selected 25 stalls to represent Albany and have produce arts and crafts for sale for the duration of the celebrations (4 days). We've been selected Yay!!But we are very scared and need as much advice as possible. We want to know if we can freeze cookies that's already been flooded? We're planning on using stencils and royal icing transfers and quick and easy designs. Any and all advice, ideas and information will be most appreciated. You ladies taught us all we know through tutorials, videos etc. You inspire us with your kindness and generosity. Thank you!!!!! HELP !!!

WOW! What a great opportunity for you! I have never tried to freeze my cookies, but once they are wrapped and tied they stay fresh for at least a week, maybe even longer. I seal my bags with ribbon, I would imagine if they were heat sealed they would stay fresh even longer than mine. good luck and let us know how it goes!

Congrats - what a great opportunity.

There's already a whole forum on the topic of freezing flooded cookies. You might want to check it out: http://cookieconnection.juliau...ze-decorated-cookies

Even though the freezing topic is covered there, I left this topic open (but renamed it) since your question seems to be broader than just whether iced cookies can be frozen.

Best of luck.

How great! Congratulations!

As for freezing already-flooded cookies, I have done so--but I am not crazy about how they taste after doing so. That is, of course, my personal opinion, and I do believe that some recipes freeze better than others. I think it comes down to your own taste test when using your usual cookie and icing recipe. So, that is what I would do; i.e. make up a couple of sample cookies, flood them, freeze them, and then inspect and taste them after defrosting. It's your product that you are offering, so you are the one who has to be happy with what you are offering.

Best of luck on this venture!

Thank you so much ladies that you took the time to help us. We really appreciate any advice you can offer and have offered. We'll definitely try it ourselves too, but think at this stage that we might go with freezing the baked cookies and then flooding and decorating them as if our lives depend on it

Hi Bickie Blessings - congratulations!! I've frozen plain iced cookies (with an edible image) on it with no issues. Mind you, these were leftovers from a large order - but nobody said they tasted any different (and they'd all had both frozen & fresh).

All the best with you & your band of merry helpers (& the BBQing hubbies) Kristine
