Not sure. Sometimes pinning works for me from this site and sometimes it doesn't. I'll ask our site support and see what I can find out.

FYI - I just submitted a trouble ticket. BTW, when the site first launched, I had no trouble pinning anything. But lately, it's been hit or miss for me. I often get the same error you mentioned. Just hadn't launched the trouble ticket, because I've been more focused on getting fresh content on the site and dealing with the spam issue.

Anyway, the Hoop.la support team is very responsive, so we should hear very soon about what they have to say.

Update: Apparently they weren't aware of this bug until we pointed it out - it is a new one since the site launched, so I trust they'll figure it out. I submitted several error messages that I'm getting from various parts of the site, and they are actively working on the issue.

Sue R.  - Can I ask you how you were pinning when you received your error (using Pin It button in tool bar or doing it somehow else)? This info may help them to diagnose the trouble. Thanks!

So, here's their answer, verbatim:

I'm not sure about when we will be adding support for pinning directly in Hoop.la. Hopefully soon, but it's not being worked on at the moment.

Regarding the main issue you brought up here, just keep in mind that we have no control over how Pinterest gathers images from web pages. We have not made any changes on our end certainly to block Pinterest.

We will definitely investigate to see what the issue might be, but just keep in mind that this is a Pinterest issue and not our issue.  When I Google the issue, I see lots of sites reporting that Pinterest periodically fails to "pin" from supplied web pages . . . and we will try to find out exactly what they are doing to scrape images from web pages to see if there is anything we CAN do.

SO, in a nutshell. this is my interpretation:

1. They are working on an internal "Pin" button that will appear at the bottom of clips, so you can pin directly from that rather than from the "Pin It" button in your tool bar. But they are giving me no delivery time.

2. They say that the fact that the "Pin It" button no longer works is a function of something that Pinterest changed rather than something they changed. They are looking into why this might be, but are vague about whether they will or can fix it.

So, I think we need to be patient to see what fixes/new pinning features they will provide. Unless I pay large sums to expedite new features, I have to wait until they decide to roll out the feature to all of their sites. I'm so sorry I could not have a more satisfying resolution for you at this time.

The inability to consistently and easily pin from this site is a hardship for me too , because I promote all of the site's blog posts on Pinterest as well as Facebook. So I often have to download and upload images manually to Pinterest now in order to pin.

At any rate, this item is on my personal list of things that I've asked them to fix, and I'll update you when there is one. Just can't tell you when, unfortunately.

Sue R. - I believe the pinning issue (using the Pin It button in the navigation bar) was just fixed. I've tested it in a couple of places, and it seems to be fine. But please let me know if you're continuing to experience problems.

Update on 10/8/2013:

Woo hoo! Hoop.la (this site's platform) just announced that they added "Pin It" buttons on all content pages (clips, blog and forum posts, videos, etc.) of this site. This new feature will now make it easier than ever to pin/share this site's content. Just look for the red "Pin It" icon, as shown below, near all photos, blog posts, and so on; then please spread the Cookie Connection word by clicking on it!  Many thanks!

None of the social sharing buttons are working for me. I can't get the pin it or facebook buttons to work. Could this be related to Windows 8 or Windows 8.1? I see so much beautiful work here that I'd love to be sharing with my network but the widget just doesn't work. Bummer!

Don't know - all the buttons are working just fine for me. I'll send this comment on to my site guys to try to diagnose, but I will likely need more info from you - like what browser and OS you are using. I'm assuming Windows 8.X, but not sure since you listed two versions. And any error messages (send screen shots, please) that you are getting.

Leann, As expected, I need to know exactly what OS and browser you are using in order to help you. Please send along as soon as possible, and my site guys will look into it.
