Hi, all! Just a quick FYI . . . I am leaving on vacation (for the first time this year!) tomorrow (November 18) and will return on November 25. Per mandate from my husband , I will be doing absolutely no work during this time (!!) and, though I hate to be saying this again, I will therefore not be posting a Saturday Spotlight tomorrow or on November 25. D epending on how my reentry into real life goes on Sunday, November 26, I may resume Spotlight s that day, or simply pick up again on the...Read More...

Hi, all! As you probably know by now, Food Network is airing a series of seven Christmas Cookie Challenges this holiday season, all with a keen focus on our passion - cookie decorating! You can see the entire first episode, called Christmas Family Fun , here, along with upcoming airtimes of this episode and the others. As if this wasn't exciting enough, at least five Cookie Connection members have competed in these challenges, and we've got the rare opportunity to talk with all of them about...Read More...
Hi, all! First, huge thanks to Cookie Connection members @mintlemonade (cookie crumbs) and @Ryoko ~Cookie Ave.! In an effort to lure more Japanese members to this site, they generously volunteered to translate the site's Terms of Use (利用規約) and Photo Posting Guidelines (画像・動画投稿について ―― 投稿する前に必ずお読みください) into Japanese! THANK YOU, LADIES! Now, everyone will find links to the Japanese translations at the top of each of those pages (links above), and also directly below: Terms of Use...Read More...

Hi, all, I've been receiving an unusually large number of questions about how members can edit or delete their own content. It's super important for you to know how to do this, as I typically do not edit posts for people, unless I happen to see a misclassified image or other typo. It can also take me several hours to days to respond to site inquiries like this, as I work several other jobs. That being said, your surest bet for getting a quick answer is to familiarize yourself with our site...Read More...
Hi, all, regrettably, I've recently had to delete some images from challenges and other areas of the site due to lack of compliance with Rule #8 of our posting guidelines, which states that artwork (including characters, from Disney, Hasbro, etc.) cannot be copied and posted here without permission from the creator : http://cookieconnection.juliau...READ-BEFORE-YOU-POST In response to those deletions, some members have asked me why so many licensed character cookies exist on the site,...Read More...

We all have different message-reading tastes, so Cookie Connection has been designed to allow for everyone's individual differences! The site's default email and onsite alert notifications are set to show you most of the site info that you could get notified about, just so you're aware of the site's full functionality. But I recognize that this amount of info may (or may not) be overkill for you. That said, I recommend that you edit your "Notifications" settings as soon as you join the site...Read More...
Read in Japanese (日本語はこちらから) (Last Translation: August 25, 2017) ________________________________ Hi, all! Before posting images or videos to the Clips area, please review the site's Terms of Use , as well as all of the following posting rules. They are designed to give your images more visibility on the site, to make sure artists are given proper credit for design inspiration and/or source artwork, and to avoid copyright violations. Edible Arts

Hi, everyone!! I'm Caroline. I'm new here and ready to learn from all these gifted and talented people here. I did professional courses in cakes, attended cookie classes, and also did master classes in royal icing. I have a small cake and cookie business in the comfort of my studio and I love not wanting to wake up wee hours on a clock-in and out time machine in the corporate's world of 20 over years. High heels hurts 😊 So here I am, retires early but still work on what I love as a...Read More...

Washing Silicone Rolling Mat in Dishwasher

Forum: Tools
Joanna (Cookie Mojo)
Hi, folks! I use a rolling mat like this one https://www.amazon.ca/Norpro-S...asures/dp/B00112499E to roll out my cookies, which I LOVE, but cleaning it afterward is kind of a pain because it is so big. It can be washed in the dishwasher, but I've never figured out how to load it so that it gets clean. Does anyone else use one, and if so do you wash in the dishwasher and how do you load it?Read More...

Red Metallic Dragees?

Forum: Suppliers
Joanna (Cookie Mojo)
Hi, folks! I've seen some pictures of cookies and cakes online with red metallic dragees on them, but I can't seem to find them anywhere to purchase. My usual suppliers up here in Toronto say they can't get them in that colour . . . not even in pearl, never mind metallic. Just plain red. Has anyone ever seen them?Read More...

Hi, I make simple old-school cookies, i.e., butter cookies, oatmeal-raisin, etc. I cannot for the life of me find a cookie business name that represents me - I've gone thru about 3 of them already. My customers on my FB page must think I'm nuts LOL. I am thinking about making and selling cookies in a jar. I'm trying to come up with ways do it. Has anyone on here ever experienced selling these type of products? Anyone else on here that sells the same type of cookies? Footnote - I am an...Read More...

I want to make my own cookie stencils. Do you think I need to buy the latest model or can I get away with one of the older models used? I would love to save some money and get a used one. I have seen some on Ebay and even Craigslist. My main goal is making cookie stencils. I want to upload my own images. What model do you have? Suggestions appreciated.Read More...

One Big Cookie or a Bunch of Small?

Rojosells
I am going to be selling old fashioned-style cookies (chocolate chip, oatmeal, pb, etc.) at fairs and was wondering if it's better to sell one large cookie or bagged half and full dozen. Anyone have experience with which are more popular? There aren't too many fairs or markets around here and most are very pricey for a table. I guess I can offer both and see how it goes. Thanks!Read More...

2017 Cake Masters Magazine Awards Winners Announced!

Julia M. Usher
Woo hoo! The results are finally in! I know firsthand what a grueling experience the judging process was, as I had the privilege (?!) of scouring 40 super-qualified portfolios, along with 11 other judges, to make the final determinations. What a challenge that was! The judges' individual rankings in 10 categories were filed about a month ago, and then tallied by the folks at Cake Masters , leading to the awards announcements made last night at the 2017 Cake Masters Magazine Awards in...Read More...

Hi, all, Just a quick note to let you know that the Practice Bakes Perfect Challenge #25 recap will post sometime between November 11 and 15, rather than in its usual Saturday Spotlight slot on November 11. In addition, the next challenge (#26) is likely to be posted on December 2 or December 3 rather than the week following the previous (#25) recap. Let me assure you, these delays have nothing to do with @Bakerloo Station, our marvelous challenge host, and have everything to do...Read More...

Say Hello to Our November Site Artist!

Julia M. Usher
This month's site artist, the creator of the stunning owls you now see staring back at you, is one of our most prolific contributors to the site. Not only has she been a featured site artist at lease three (or is it four?) times, she is also a repeat Practice Bakes Perfect challenge entrant, who often enters each challenge multiple times! Her signature style of boldly painted scenes, often with the added dimension of modeled fondant figurines, is immediately recognizable to anyone who's been...Read More...

Dehydrator Pros and Cons

Forum: Tools
The Cookie Cart
Question: Thoughts on dehydrators. I hear they help keep a good shine on the cookie . . . They set the icing quickly and better for shipping . . .they seal the cookie. I've also heard, they dry out the cookie (so adjustments are to be made to recipe). I'm looking into getting one, but figured I'd get the most honest and educated answers here. Do they make that much of a difference? I value your comments.Read More...

New Electric Wall Oven Recommendations

Forum: Tools
Sherrie
I would love to get opinions regarding the purchase of a new electric wall oven (with microwave). My wall oven is on its last leg. It is about 50 degrees off. I have to bake sugar cookies for 16 minutes at 350 degrees (the recipe says bake 6 to 8 minutes). I also have a gas oven but I don't like how it bakes cookies (I only use it for baking other foods). I would love any advice regarding the brand of electric wall oven I should consider purchasing. Thank you.Read More...

Introducing Our October Site Artist!

Julia M. Usher
Boo! (Did I scare you?! ) We've got a boo-tiful set of Halloween-themed art for the site this month, but I have a feeling it won't scare you much either. Dubbed "Goofy Goths, Boo Bones, and Candy Curls" by its creator, the very talented @virago , it's more charming and smile-inducing than spooky. Ever since virago submitted this art, now almost a year ago, I've been dying to post it . . . not only are the individual cookies executed to perfection, but the overall...Read More...

Hi, all. The Cookie Connection site recently underwent a software update in which many improvements were made to admin functionality. Plus, one change was made that affects all of you more directly! In the past, you may have noticed that, when selecting emojis in the Cookie Connection entry/editing window on mobile devices , emojis did not reveal as they should. Instead, they showed up in posts as a string of question marks. Well, that bug has finally been fixed! Now, you should see emojis...Read More...

Two-Hour Cookie Decorating Class

Sweethart Baking Experiment
Hey guys! So I've been decorating sugar cookies for about three years now, but I have never actually taught anyone before. My local Makers Mercantile has asked me to do a small 2 hour class sometime near Valentines Day - nothing crazy, but just to give people a small opportunity to play with cookies and do what I do for a few hours. Obviously there would be no flooding or anything that takes a long time to dry. I thought I could bring some pre-flooded heart shaped cookies, and let people do...Read More...
