CookieCon 2018: The Journey Begins

My press kit arrived. As I plan my coverage of CookieCon 2018, is there anything people would like to see or hear about?

Please leave your wants and desires in the comments section below. Thanks!

Econlady's CookieCon 2015 Calling CardKate Sullivan, aka Econlady, is a retired economist who started cookie decorating over a decade ago when her seven-year-old daughter wanted to take a cookie decorating class. While her daughter lost interest, Kate continued to explore cookie decorating, always looking for new ideas and techniques. Kate’s cookies have been featured on a trading card at CookieCon 2015 (pictured left) and also in Cookie Connection’s Practice Bake Perfect Challenge #14. In 2016, Kate took over as Newsletter Editor of the National Cookie Cutter Collectors Club, where her decorated cookies were showcased on the cover of each newsletter. More recently, she was named the club's Treasurer. Kate is a long-time veteran of CookieCon, having attended since the very beginning, so she is sure to bring us the up-to-the-minute CookieCon inside scoop.

Would like to see Julia Usher's JULIA AIR BRUSH SYSTEM at the convention.

Hi, Sandi, as I think I mentioned in the CookieCon Attendees' Facebook group (are you in that group?), my system will be demo'ed during open decorating by Cynthia Raven of Sugar Chat Studio. You will also have a chance to try it then! However, no one is selling the system there, as it's just not cost effective for my partner to ship product there and then have to ship it home; nor is it really convenient for conference-goers to have to schlep it around and home. My partner may be giving away one system, but I am not sure of those details - he's arranging them directly with CookieCon. Thanks for your interest! I hope you get a chance to catch Cynthia's demo and try it then.

I am happy about anything that you will share with us.
We don't have something like that here and cookie decoration isn't that popular either, so... show me everything, haha!

There is a lot going on.  I compare it to Mardi Gras without the alcohol.  I don’t think Julia has been to a CookieCon since the first one and it is absolutely crazy with people.

I've been to two or three CookieCons - the last one I attended was about as big as the show is now (in terms of attendees); they haven't grown it much. (I only know this because I've sponsored every one in some way, and I often need to supply coupons for everyone in attendance!)
