Saturday Spotlight at Last - Top 10 Tips and Techniques

My hope when starting Cookie Connection was that it would not only be a great place for photo sharing and increasing the overall visibility of the cookie community, but also a vehicle for learning and advancing our skills. To that end, the site has scheduled chats, blog posts by our regular contributors, and forums where lots of information is exchanged each day.

But what you may or may not know is: we also have a relatively new Tips, Techniques, and Templates clip set for posting quick photo and video tips, techniques, and templates (natch!) in addition to links to offsite tutorials.

It's in this spirit of expanding our collective cookie wisdom that we're featuring the 10 hottest posts* in that clip set over this past week. Our honorees teach everything from airbrushing to create a pop-art effect to making Lego-themed coloring book cookies. Quite the diversity! So take out your note pads and pencils, and step into student mode for while. There's a lot to be learned here!

* As a reminder, a word about how the rankings are determined: The rankings are not at all subjective. In fact, they are determined essentially by you, our members, and the activity (number of views, likes, and comments) you've bestowed on each photo. The site uses a top-secret algorithm that weighs these various factors to determine which photos are trending most quickly (i.e., are the "hottest") over specified periods of time. As such, the hot list at the time of this announcement may look a little different a few hours or a day from now as more photos are added to the site.

So that no one has an unfair advantage in making it onto a hot list, the algorithm is secret even to site administrators. Only our platform developers know the code, which has been exhaustively tested by those developers and Cookie Connection staff.

All photos shown here are the courtesy (and copyright) of the designers listed.

To check out our other hot lists, at any time of day, visit our Hot Spot, also found in the site's main navigation line.

It is so incredible to log on here every day and see the amazing talent that everyone has...each eye has such an ability to create beauty out of a little sugar and I love to see all of the amazing art work that each of you create.!!

The Tips & Techniques Spotlight is great for those who want to learn cookie decorating. It's also a useful tool for picking up new techniques and sharing our knowledge throughout the cookie world.
