Thank you Nancy, MsMurf(my twin sister), Julia, Kari and Bickie Blessings! Kari, this is, my very first decorated cookie. It was definitely a challenge for me, but I enjoyed working on it and will continue practicing my cookie decorating skills. I appreciate everyone's comments!

Question: How were the black details done on frame and mother and baby. Handpainted, piped, edible marker or a combo? Asking for purposes of tagging. Thanks.

Hi Yuri, Diane and Lucy! I want to thank each of you for your nice comments! Your comments are very encouraging and I really do appreciate them, so much! I wanted to share, more details about my cookie. I have wanted to start my first cookie project for some time now, learning as much as I can from tutorials, blog posts, You Tube videos, Cake Central, and of course, Cookie Connection. But, was so intimidated, by the awesome cookies, I see. So, when the Practice Bakes Perfect Challenge came up, I still did not have the confidence that I needed, and did not even know where to start. But when Julia posted the update about the added prize/apron. That was just the motivation I needed, to give cookie decorating a try. It was now or never. I used the basic rolled sugar cookie recipe from Karen's Cookies. And the royal icing recipe from Sweet Sugar Belle. The only icing color I had trouble with was the hair color. I had difficulty getting the shade, I desired. The cookie is made with six cookie pieces, the back, the four pieces of the frame and the stand. I wanted to add a royal icing butterfly, transfer. But felt I had already pushed my cookie decorating abilities to the limit. I just knew as I looked at the finished picture frame, propped up with vegetable cans, to allow the icing to dry, it was going to fall apart, before I could get a photo of it, to post for this challenge.

Hi Julia! The outline of the mother, her dress, the baby, and the flowers on the picture frame are piped on. All of the surface/finer details, such as the eyes, eyelashes, eyebrows, diaper pin, the baby's nose, dots on the headband, veining on the leaves, details on the large yellow flowers, outline of the stripes on the four petaled flowers were added with a food coloring marker. Thank you for your question! I apologize! I forgot to add, for the clothing, skin and hair color, on mother and baby, I used the glaze that Classic Cookies by Parr uses, her recipe can be found here http://cookieconnection.juliau...christmas-cookies-32  (6th comment down)

Hi Dana, Seriously you have talent. This is a beautiful, well thought out and crafted edible piece of art. It shows the 70's, the love of mother/baby, colours, technique... However and however long you have been studying my lady has paid off - Your first decorated cookie is beautiful. Thank you for sharing and entering.

Also thank you for being so encouraging with my uploaded clips since I started posting here a short while ago. Always good to see your icon. ♥ Kat

I'm not sure if I'm in shock or in awe. I've seen you reply to tons of cookies on here and just assumed you were "an old pro". You've really raised the bar on "first cookies". If I were there with you, I'd give you a HUGE HUG and tell you how proud I am. WOW, this is really amazing!!! One of these days I'll figure out how to post pictures on here and put up a few of mine. But they are nothing like yours. You really did a fantastic job!!!

Hi LeeAnn! Thank you so much, for your kind and encouraging comments! I was smiling as I read them! Yes I have commented on lots of cookies, even though I barely know how to hold a piping bag, I still know beautiful cookie art, when I see it and love studying every detail! I always look forward to my visit to Cookie Connection! I'm always amazed at everyone's talent and beautiful cookies! I wanted to challenge myself with this cookie project, and that, I did! I worked on it for 3 days! I would love to see your cookie creations!!
