This set of cookies is meant to be for Practice Bakes Perfect Challenge #27 - Circles. I just wanted to read the challenge post once more before I posted my entry, then it was when I realized that my cookies donโ€™t qualify with the Rule #2 - no icing of the circles in sections or parts.

This particular design was in my mind for a long time and when I learnt about the challenge I just jumped into making them before reading the rules carefully. Literally, I was in tears... Well, what can I do? Itโ€™s all my fault.

Anyway, Iโ€™m still posting my cookie set without tagging for the challenge ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”

I am inspired by CookieCrazieโ€™s โ€œCathedral Window Quilt Patternโ€ cookies. But I wanted to create a tile set using the same pattern. I decided to go with royal blue thinking that blue will give a more mediterranian look. As you will notice there are 12 whole circles (to comply with the challenge rule - silly me ๐Ÿ™„), rest consists of mini white star and blue eye shape cookies. Having detached mini cookies also allows me to play with the shape, as I can form them as a square, rectangle, triangle and etc. All the white sections are handpainted.

This set was a challenge for me and Iโ€™ve got my lesson as a prize! (Still crying ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ)

Please read my comment Manu ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ข

@La Shay by Ferda Ozcan Oh sure!... what a pity! I was so mesmerized by the perfection of your circle cookies and the flooding... and they were twelve and the borders were clearly visible...that I got too excited and I forgot the โ€œfully floodedโ€ rule #2๐Ÿ™ƒ!!!

But anyway this is such an amazing set and you should be so proud of it!!! Those cookies are simply amazing!!!

I am so sorry this could not be an entry for the challenge!  It is a spectacular set of cookies.  I adore a good cookie puzzle, AND tiles!  There is still a week left to the challenge if you want to try to make another entry!!!

Amazing work!

Hi, Melinda! So great to see you on Cookie Connection. I just tried commenting on your comment on my YouTube channel, but suddenly YouTube is not letting me comment on anything. Not sure what's going on there, but there's always something . . . I do hope you'll enter our challenge though!

Could you share your cutting/icing technique? So brilliant. Do you draw the diamond design on a baked cookie and then slice before icing?  Or do you cut the shapes before baking? Although I guess that would mean they would spread and not fit so well.

Hi Kathy, I did indeed cut the shapes before baking. I prepared a diamond template out of paper and put it on the round cut cookie dough and cut the โ€œeyeโ€ shapes by the side of same round cutter. Does it make sense? Iโ€™m also attaching a photo to show it.

I also used the diamond template to draw the shape on the baked cookie. I iced the white part first, let it dry and then iced the blue coloured parts.

My cookies donโ€™t spread much, thatโ€™s why I was able to attach them together easily.

Hope that helps ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

So pretty! So sad that the set doesn't fit the challenge rules, but you should be super pleased with them nonetheless!

Thanks a lot Julia. In a way Iโ€™m grateful to the challenge because it just motivated me to make the cookie set that was in my mind for a long time. Otherwise, the set would have stayed on my to do list for a while. I think this is why challenges are so important and valuable.  Thanks for the opportunity Julia ๐Ÿ’

Thanks a lot for your lovely comments Christine. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

Iโ€™m indeed thinking of making another set but this time Iโ€™ll keep it simple for the sake of time-saving.

As itโ€™s said โ€œthink, then actโ€, Iโ€™ll change it to โ€œread -very carefully-,  then actโ€.

Thanks a lot for your lovely, supportive comments. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

Warm regards dear Manu ๐Ÿ˜˜
