To create this vintage box with maschine on the top I used paper template, and not the whole template, the down side I didn't cut/ photos pinned /pieces of the box iced and after dried up and stenciled with nice thick mixture of rose coloured  icing, also used silicone molds for the gold coloured gingerbread clothes, dress and boot, for a piece of fabric I put a piece of edible lace,front long-lasting piece of maschine was baked on a silicone texture sheet and same the wheel after coloured with edible colors with alcohol. On the gingerbread spool wrapped sugarpaste thread,Spool is from 3 pieces 2 small round cutted with cookie cutter and middle one simple rolled 1 small piece of gingerbread dough baked just  like that and after a bit etched and connected -glued with royal icing

WOW! This is such a fantastic and very ambitious project! My Mom was an avid sewer and had a Singer from the '60s. She always had patterns and in-process clothes laying on all the flat surfaces in her bedroom! She even made the four wedding owns for me and my sisters. Anyhoo... what I am saying is I LOVE the theme! The stenciled box beneath the sewing machine. It looks like it may, but I am wondering if the top of the base box comes off to store sewing bits and bobbins. I think the stenciling adds a nice vintage effect. Your spool of thread is clever, and I am impressed that you got that rather large-looking sewing machine cookie to stand! This is a wonderful addition to the challenge.
