I have missed you all SO MUCH!! The 4th quarter, 2019, was busier for me than it's ever been before! I was burning the midnight oil many a night in order to meet deadlines. Consequently, I missed a lot of beautifully decorated cookies here . CC is one of my favorite sites and I visit as often as I can to see everyone's beautiful work!

I love baby shower cookies! Many thanks, Julia, @Julia M. Usher for your woodland stencil that was perfect for creating a tropical environment.  I simply added a monkey tail around one limb and stenciled the message.

The texturing technique is something I learned from Amber Spiegel, SweetAmbs, several years ago. It creates the illusion of dimension for fur on the central monkey character.

Pricing is never easy for me. I find it difficult to accurately estimate decorating time so that I can price my sets and make some $. I've read and re-read posts here and on other sites about pricing but still find this area difficult. With how busy my schedule was over the holidays I find myself in the position of needing to nail down this aspect of my business, and fast!

Best wishes to everyone for a wonderful year โค๏ธ

So sweet, Carol, and I love how seamlessly you integrated that stencil!

Yes, while (if) you have a lull, take some time to nail down your labor standards (time spent doing various activities) - they will help you figure out more profitable pricing on custom jobs. Crucial to do, or soon you'll be resenting working for pennies (I know - I've been there, and still sometimes go there!)

Thank you for your words of experience Julia @Julia M. Usher ! Yes, I definitely need to look at everything seriously once I'm caught up on orders. Working for pennies is right on the mark in my experience.  It's too time consuming to design and decorate custom cookies and then end up with so little $ to show for it. .  I love hard work but am not currently satisfied with the minimal return on that work while trying to run a small business. Thanks for all your support โค
