The base cookies have been originally made for the needlework ones I posted a while ago. While baking these misshaped a little, so I made a new batch for the birthday ones. From the cake I made as well, there was also a bit of Royal Icing left, so I used all those leftovers to give the black Royal Icing mix I bought a try - usually I make my Royal Icing from scratch as everything "premade" has a weird consistency.

But with black I have my problems  (colour bleed, not dark enough etc), so I just wanted to test it with some cookies and random designs.

Beautiful contrast, Anne! The black icing looks great. What brand did you use? Would you recommend it? Thanks, @GinkgoWerkstatt

Thank you! @Manu
I used the mix from Squired Kitchen (the only one I know). It's easy to get it ready, just mix it with water until you have the consistency you need. The color is great. No bleeding, nice black with a subtle gloss.

Working with it is a bit tricky for me tough. It has a bit of a stringy (not sure if that is the right word) consistency. Makes it a bit harder to make dots or stop with leaves, without getting too many peaks/long ends.
When you stop with the pressure it's like the icing on the cookie and the one inside the piping bag doesn't want to lose their connection.

Thank you Anne. SK is the brand of mix that I use for my regular icing. I start from the amount of water that they require and then thin it down and color it as needed. I have never tried the colored mix, but now that I have seen your outcome I might give a try to the black one if I will need in the future.😊 Thanks again!

Usually I don't use any mixes but make the royal icing on my own (powdered sugar, egg white and a bit of lemon juice), works best for me so far. But red and black royal icing are really a trouble maker for me

Totally my pleasure! ♥
