I wanted to make something dimensional and dynamic with delicate lines by brush embroidery technique.   I chose dragon just because I was born in the Year of Dragon (are you trying to find how old I am?  ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคฃ

Backdrop

prepare a flooded rectangular cookie (10x13cm 3.94x5.12inch)

make a circle with a scribe tool on the cookie

put a little icing on the edge of the cookie and drag the icing toward the center of the circle with a brush

3

make dorsal fin (back hair,  I wonder how you call) with brush embroidery

for the body, the center part is thin embroidery and the outer is thick embroidery

use 3 different tones of icing, left photo is 2 tones of icing and right one is 3 tones of icing

icing transfer!  right hand with a gold ball is icing transfer with brush embroidery, gold ball has some shades to make it look dimensional.  The nails and fingers are covered by brush embroidery, too

TIPS:  use different tips of brushes, that are flat, thin and wide for brush embroidery, short stroke and long stroke, move brush by different angles and brush embroidery over brush embroidery

This challenge was difficult.  Brush embroidery that's not for flowers, leaves and waterfront.... so I really should do something I haven't tried before.... what was that?

As I said I was born in the Year of Dragon but I have never drawn or made a dragon with any material in my life.  There are many dragons painted with sumi (black ink) by maestros in Japan but this should be MY dragon (well, I cannot make a dragon like theirs anyway).  I don't even know why it has 3 fingers and a ball but I just followed the idea.

WOW!! Your Dragon is absolutely stunning Ryoko @Ryoko ~Cookie Ave.. I love how you incorporated the details of brush embroidery with different sizes of brushes giving a very successful dimensional look to it.

Thank you for your great process pics!! I love how you explain each step in the creation of your final masterpiece. The dimension you achieved is perfect!

As always, your work is very detailed and the different color tones match beautifully. The gold ri transfer is so awesome.

Beautiful work my dear cookie friend . I love it no matter what your age may be ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hugs....โคโคโค

Hi Carol, @Cookies Fantastique   Thank you for your lovely comment and thank you for reading my comment, too.    I wish I could explain more in detail....  at least I wish I could take a good photos, so people can get good ideas.

Hi Zara!   Thank you.

I haven't touched cookie dough more than a month.   I was a really away from cookies.   So I wasn't sure whether I really could make what I planned.   I am glad somehow I could make an entry to this challenge.

How are you doing with your cookies and cake??

Yeah, I know what you mean. I feel exactly the same. Haven't done anything in over two months and I will not for the next two. We were planning to go back to Bulgaria for the summer school holiday this weekend, but we're still not sure about it ๐Ÿคฏ

It is very difficult to decide many things in the condition we face every day.   I really hope things are going to be easier.  Tell me what you decide ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

Thank you for the great mini-tutorial. This definitely goes far beyond any flower or beach scene. Your brush strokes are so perfectly suited for each part of the dragon (and background) that you are using it for. All around amazing work!

Thank you, Christine, @Sweet Prodigy    This challenge was like an unsolvable riddle.   You gave us many tips of brush embroidery for this challenge.... so what could I make?   what was it?    I have been thinking and looking at things carefully, food, plants, animals ....

I wish I could explain more clearly but  I used different brushes, wet one, dry one, move brush this way and that way, multiple layers of brush embroideries, different amount of icing to make my dragon alive.  It is like "no, not this one" "no, shouldn't be this" and I tried this and that...      I just cannot explain even in my language๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฅ๐Ÿ˜จ
