It requires a special dough, with less baking soda and more flour, than my regular gingerbread. I make two thin strings from the dough, place them side by side, then twist together. Place the braid on top of the box lid, then bake.

I am a newbie and have been studying your work and others. I still need lots of practice before I will feel comfortable sharing any of my own work.

Thank you! It's hard to tell exactly how much baking soda you need as I don't know your recipe. If you have too much it will spread and ruin your braid and also hard to work with. Mine has only about a teaspoonful for about 3 lb flour. The dough is very stiff (I would not even want to try to eat it). Think of clay... when it has enough flour in it to lose all the elasticity of a normal dough, then it will be good for a braid.

ok thanks, I'm trying to work with my dough to soft... And the rose you have on FB if very beautiful. I have been trying do them as well, LOL they melt when I bake themso I will try with the new dough I'm going to make. Thank you so much... We will keep practicing because it will eventually lead to success!!!
