This is so far off what I had originally in mind! What I learned: royal icing on a cake board never gets fully hard and the surface cracks easily; giving wafer paper an 'old' look by browning it over a flame makes it brittle, burns it leaving black blobs and warps it so it is difficult to pipe over it; and piping long straight lines is very difficult!

Oh Wow Liesbet - This is Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing some of the processes - we all have those sorts of learning curves, trust me, but this is so original and So creative and I LOVE the end result !!

Julia, the cake board is 36 cm (14 inches) wide/high. I turned it on a corner to allow for two slightly longer music bars.

Thanks Kelly!  It are only the music notes which are cookies. The background is a cake board covered in royal icing which is then coloured and stamped.
