The mouse itself is a honey dough chocolate cookie, the tail and tongue made of fondant. The colors held up badly as I was painting directly on the baked cookie (fat). I have to come up with something, because I made a mold especially for the mouse ... Well,I don't necessarily have to paint it, but that's what excites me! For the next "mouse cookie" I will probably first put a layer of thin icing on the cookie and then draw on it ...

Awww, this is SO cute, Gabi!!! Love pours out of this cookie all over! I love the eyes (mice and cows are so expressive), and those little hands are precious. I’m so sorry you lost your little mouse💔❤️

Oh how sweet Gabi @Icingsugarkeks! I love your little mouse with that adorable wide eyed facial expression . Cute beyond words my dear. Lots of great detail. I know what you mean about the fat leeching out when you're trying to paint directly onto the cookie surface. I think it turned out awesome!! The fine whisker lines around the mouth and on the tummy look like you planned it exactly the way it turned out. The whiskers look, so realistic!! I love this ❤️❤️❤️ Awesome work, as always my dear friend. I forgot to mention your molds that you made. Amazing!!! Hugs....

The mouse is very adorable! The eyes and the tongue, the all other details are exceptionally well executed!

Do you mean to say you painted directly on the honey cookie without icing? Wondering how does the mouse look white in the second picture if you did not coat it with royal icing! Also, could you tell me how does the taste of the cookie differ if we paint directly on the cookie without using a layer of royal icing? I mean to ask, is it still edible and enjoyable, or does the taste of color over power the taste of the cookie?

Aww... dear Carol, Thank you sooo much for your kind words!! I really very appreciate it!! Oh yes, working with gel paints on the baked dough wasn't exactly fun ... For the finer details, I first primed with white paint. Well, you never stop learning ... Thanks again Carol and Hugs !! ❤️😘❤️  @Cookies Fantastique

Thanks for the very considered comment dear @Anupama Joshi ! ❤️😘
Yes, I painted right on the dark, baked cookie. That's why it looks so "fray" and not clean.
The white mouse on the other picture is my template made of modeling clay for the mold.
In terms of taste, it is no different than painted on Icing, just not as sweet. It's just not easy to draw ...

Here is another picture from the back of the mouse. On it you can see the dough and the color of the cookie and again my modeling clay for the mold:

Thank you for the information and additional pictures @Icingsugarkeks

I must say you have done an exceptional job of painting directly on the cookie. I am inspired to try directly painting the cookie too.

I always thought that if we directly use color on the cookie (without icing) then the taste of the color may make the cookie taste a bit bitter. Also, wasn't sure of how the cookie finishing will look. But, if well painted cookie looks like this and is taste is not compromised, I definitely want to give it a shot!

Would you say that spraying the paint on cookie, instead of hand painting it would probably be easier? Wondering if spray painted cookie looks as good too!

Thank you so much @Anupama Joshi !
I guess if you lick the paint directly with your tongue, it won't taste good either ?! This cookie consists of honey dough (good for modeling). The honey and cocoa in this cookie drown out the taste of the color. I just think it's quite difficult to paint on a dark cookie, so next time I'll try a very thin layer of icing underneath. The fact that the cookie could even be painted with paint is certainly due to the fact that it was a very smooth honey dough cookie! I wouldn't even want to try it on all other cookies ... I think you should try this for yourself. Every cookie is different, everyone has different ideas. I learn a lot by trying. I've never sprayed paint on a cookie. (and sorry for my english )

Will try it out for sure. Would you have a recommendation for where can I find the honey dough recipe?

Hello @Anupama Joshi, Thanks!
The honey dough recipe I have from Instagram from "pippa_rostov".
It is wonderful to make cookies in molds. Please note: Put cookies absolutely in a cool place before baking and preheat the oven !! No baking powder because the cookies are supposed to keep their shape! (is also not specified in the recipe) You will find wonderful examples on Pippa's page !! Have fun!
