I keep looking at these cookies, the pattern of the stitches.... you really knitted plain and purl with royal icing. And what about the stitches that tie the raglan sleeves to the body! Same for the hats. They look so real because there aren't knitting mistake... amazing!

Thank you so much, Manu! There are plenty of mistakes... maybe a bit hard to see in the tiny stitches, but I really appreciate your kind comments, especially since I admire all of your exquisite work so much! Thank you !

Amazing work!! May I ask how you got this effect down so perfectly? Adorable pocket animals, too

Thank you so much, Carol! My mom always used to knit these in real when a baby was born to family or friends, whole sets actually with overalls, gloves and booties, too. With a new addition to our family, I thought it would be nice to do a cookie version. I enlarged and printed out a picture of a jacket and then got to practice on my mat until I was satisfied with the result . I found the purl stitches were easiest done from left to right (I'm right-handed): one row of small lines then the second row connecting these at the ends over the little gap with a small bow. But the mechanics of the plain knit stitches are not that easily explained and would have to be shown, I guess. But I hold the work with these sideways with the point of the v-shape either to the left or right and working toward me. These stitches need to be quite pointed, so one row is almost flat little lines touching on the previous one. I got to where I just could make them with a continuous motion like you would do ruffles on a cake. The same with the second row, but these are a bit more slanted toward you. Hope this makes some sense . Thanks again!

Your knitting work amazes me! A tutorial would be so wonderful

Thank you, Kay. I'm fairly new at cookie decoration, and wouldn't even know where to start with a tutorial. But maybe as I become a more seasoned cookier... Thanks again!

Would love to see a tutorial on your knits! They are so real !!!

Thank you, Veronica! I told others it would be best to show how the stitches are done via video, but my cam is not good enough for such close up work. I think I'll have to show through pics after all, but it will take some time in any case, as I've never done a tutorial before, and I still have several other projects to finish, before I can get to this. Thanks again!

Are you kidding?  Absolutely amazing!!!  I'm gonna try this sometime when I have lots of time to practice.  If you ever have a video of this I'd love to watch it!  : )

Thank you, Nancy! I'll see what I can do in the not so far future, hopefully ...
