I'm in the northern hemisphere and chose cool colors.

The antennae on the center part and the leafy parts are over piped Isomalt transfers, but I made them too thin, and my clumsy fingers broke them a few times. Had to "glue" them back on with Isomalt and reinforce them on the back.

The idea to use flowers as the four wing parts and overall design are my own, but the leafy parts were inspired by different butterfly art works on the Internet as is the idea to make the butterfly body in the form of a female...

WOW! Sonja, what incredible detailed work and so creative I absolutely love your lady butterfly. Your attention to detail is always second to none and this is no exception. Your precise piping draws your eye in to see every single detail, no matter how small. The colors are gorgeous, too! Are all the swirly elements of the wings part of the cookie/s? Isomalt transfers? How you were able to create this masterpiece using isomalt as much as you did? I LOVE this design ♥♥♥

Also wondering about the overall size and what size tips you use for tiny details?

The overall size is a bit smaller than 30x30 cm. I don't use tips, but would guess between 0 and 1.

Thank you so much, Carol ❤️! The antennae and all swirly parts are Isomalt transfers and as such part of the cookies. I first outlined the transfers with royal icing, then filled them in drop by drop with Isomalt, and finally over piped them. Thanks again, Carol !

Amazing work! I could immediately tell it was yours  just by looking at the piped details! I love the design, mesmerizing as always...

Thanks so much, Manu ❤️! I know I'm over detailing a lot . It's just that the world disappears when I pipe, and that feels so darn good !

Your comment sure makes my day, Zara! If the sharing of our creations makes only one person forget time and space for a moment, then the whole effort was worth it, I think . Thank youso much for such a loving comment ❤️❤️❤️!!!

So beautiful!! It looks like embroidery brooch... I wonder how you're gonna keep this work of art..

Thanks so much, Noriko ❤️!!! I don't have experience with Isomalt over a long period of time. It seems very susceptible to air humidity. So it might not hold that long, but we shall see .

Sorry for the late reply, Carol. Meant to write, but got distracted and forgot again... My hands are actually not that steady, especially after coffee, haha! But you know, in cookie decoration most of the time one has ways to cover up mistakes and accidents . A tutorial... I'm working full-time at the moment, and am using most of my free time for decorating to counteract the stress, but maybe sometime in the future. But yes, I do love Isomalt A LOT. It's so versatile! I wish I could try out all the ideas that came to mind on how it could be used . It only has one big drawback: it's hard to handle during times of high humidity, gets sticky and cloudy.... Thanks so much, dear cookier friend ❤️❤️❤️!

This is absolutely STUNNING!  This design is absolutely brilliant and the level of detail sublime.  The moody cool color palette works so perfectly with this design.  Please, tel me, why you used isomalt at all if there are cookies under the butterfly body, rather than just do a standard royal icing transfer... I am intrigued!

Thank you so much, Christine ❤️!!!

There is only one stem extending from the main body, 5mm the most at the broadest point, carrying the whole weight of the entire swirly part. Royal icing alone would've never been strong enough for this. Even Isomalt (with royal icing on top of it!) broke on me there a couple of times (and a few times at other places as well) , because I 'poured' it too thin. Had to reinforce the breaks with a thick droplet on the back.

Thanks for challenging us in such a wonderful way, Christine, and all the work you do to make this happen !

Thank you so much for such a glowing comment, LeeAnn  ❤️❤️❤️  ! I just don't feel professional enough, yet, to give classes, plus I only have limited time available for cookie decoration. Some day this might change . Thanks again so much!!!
