The past few months I haven’t been able to do but a couple of cookies. During that time I played a lot with an app called Mirrograph 2, though. This is a cookiefied version of one of the many Mirrograph mandalas I made. Below I will post a few progression pics. The first one is the original Mirrograph pic, and the second one a rendition with Inkscape, a vector program. The rest are pics of the piping and filling progression with Isomalt.

So, in short, my mind is blown. From the apps that you used to create your own template, to your pin technique for transferring minuscule amounts of isomalt, to your piping the intricate border pattern, you have left me speechless. I think I have more in reading through your comments to this entry than I have in the last year of cookieing! Brava, brava!

Thank you so much, Manu 😘! I really enjoyed making this one, although it took me a while to get back into it. Forgot how finicky Isomalt can be. And the filling of tiny openings with RI, oh my! It'll take practice again...

This is not possible Sonja.  I'm dumbfounded.   How did you apply the isomalt?  The areas are so tiny.         It would never occur to me to create a cookie from such a complex design.   Every phase can stand on it's own.  Simply spellbinding.        Pip

Thanks so much, Pip, for yet another uplifting comment 😊❣️ The Isomalt is applied into royal icing openings with the scribe tool, drop by drop, or a pin, if the openings are real tight. For that it must have just the right temperature, so it can still be transported (hang on to the needle long enough) to the spot needed and flow into the tiny corners... Thanks again 😊😘!

Yes, that's it...one big transfer, since I'm not good at piping exact patterns "freehand". And a Pico wouldn't do it either for so much detail. The cookie is only backing the outer, monochrome part (filled with icing only), leaving light to shine through the inner part (filled with both icing and Isomalt)

I learned quite a  bit myself doing this. It took me a while to get it somewhat right with the new setup I have. I piped that interior 4 times. At first I made it too thin, and the lines started breaking when I was filling in the hot isomalt, then a corner broke off on a finished one, and one started to buckle from the humidity after a couple of days (forgot to protect it with spray). I ended up filling in parts with RI and doubling the lines to strengthen the whole thing. I'll yet have to find out, though, how I can fill in again single piping layers (like I did with the butterfly suncatcher) with this new setup.

Thank you Ferda 😘❣️. Doing the cookie was very satisfying. The only hard work was taking pictures, haha! I'm not good at it, and trying to get both clear Isomalt with light in the back and RI show is difficult...
