Wow, what fun this set was. In some ways it has lived with me for years compelling me to created it. I was delighted to ask Ryoko to help me make this Japanese style set. I sent her a sketch (which turns out to be not very similar to what I ended up with) and asked how she would approach them. She gave me great pointers! I would never have done these wet on wet (I don't have the best experience with that method) but she was so helpful, I decided to try. She also instructed me to do RI transfer pieces for the flowers and I loved trying that effect as well. Turns out in my orgiginal sketch the writing was Chinese (no Japanese) so it was good that I had help. I have always adored the writing and style, so this set has been pure joy (with only a tiny bit of fear!). Thanks so much @Ryoko ~Cookie Ave.

Hi Kim,  those cookies are really nice, I feel tranquility.  Very good at writing difficult letters!  They turned out Kim's cookies, your own style.

Thank you so much Ryoko! I loved doing the effect of doing wet on wet as you suggested (not perfectly done) I will try it again now. And thanks for the fonts too! Your letters are each a work of art and they were really fun to paint.

YES!  This is what these challenges are all about: "...purejoy (with only a tiny bit of fear)."  What a fantastic collaboration!

This is a really beautiful set of cookies, Kim.  The Ryoko influence is evident everywhere, but you really made these your own. I love that you stepped out of your comfort zone to try multiple new skills.  Clearly it was worth the creative risk! I really like how you did the different shades of blue for the water, and your koi is brilliant.

Thank you so much, Christine! Yes, always worth the risk. I'm so glad you like them.
