So...this is my first challenge participation!  Apologies if I do something wrong here in terms of posting or explaining...

I was inspired by the popcorn machine we have in our kitchen.  It was an easy structure to assemble, basically just a box with cut-outs.  I used gingerbread for the cookie, royal icing to cover and isomalt in the windows.  The popcorn is made from fondant.  The bowl is a half sphere cookie dipped in royal icing.  The checkered base is also a gingerbread cookie with royal icing.

The liquid - which may be a stretch - is melted butter.  It isn't very visible in the photo but I sort of drizzled it here and there.  I had a "pitcher of butter" but it looked silly and not much like a pitcher of butter so I took it out.  I added a few butter drops to the cookie base.

I very much enjoyed this project and learned a lot.  A couple of things....
1. I should have thought through the drawer in the front more.   I added it as an afterthought and it's attachment is pretty messy.
2. I should have mitered the corners.  The attachments are two messy with too much visible "glue".
3. I should have sprayed the edges with gold luster spray like @Julia M. Usher did with her oven.  It would have given it a much better look.
4. Related to the previous two points, it caused me to use too many dots!  I was trying to cover up mistakes and I got a bit carried away.  You can see on the right side, I only used one line of dots - which I think probably looks better and would have really looked better if I had initially sprayed with gold luster.
5. I rolled my gingerbread too thick for the attachments like the drawer and top.

I'm really not sure if this is how I am suppose to post this or not so my apologies again if I have done so incorrectly.  Machine Close-up
This is my machine!

I have other photos of the process but I think it's pretty straight forward.

Awesome first challenge entry and all so well explained! Perfectly posted as well! I especially love the coloring/shading on the popcorn. How did you achieve that?

Thank you so much @Julia M. Usher!  For the popcorn I colored  white fondant with gold and used some crinkled aluminum foil to shape it.  Once it had set a bit, I hand painted the kernels with food gel.  I had a bowl of popcorn in front of me as I was doing it and it was clear that all of the pieces were different!  Some of the coloring shade is also from the drizzles of "butter" which was actually a thinned out royal icing.

 They DO look super lifelike!

Love this!! Awesome work @LisaF โค๏ธ. What a great, realistic container for the popcorn...so clever and creative.

Thank you so much @Cookies Fantastique! I had wanted to spray the container with some pearl luster spray but I was out.  All of our non-essential businesses are closed and I was much too impatient to wait for a delivery!

I hear you on that!!! I read your description of how you made the popcorn...super ingenius and so realistic @LisaF .

Thanks for the full explanation Lisa...wonderful work my dear @LisaF โค๏ธ

I am so glad that you entered the challenge. This is definitely an excellent entry, and I am in awe of your popcorn. Even though you have explained the process, I keep wanting to zoom in to ensure that they are not real! Also, I love that all of your props are also made of cookies. It looks like you learned a lot from creating your popcorn machine, but I do want to say that it still looks fantastic!

Thank you so much @Sweet Prodigy. I will say, I found this technique easy and realistic. Even up close, the foil provides a texture that mimics the popped corn. The give away is probably the color. We tend to think of popcorn as yellow but itโ€™s really much closer to eggshell. The absolute only reason I know this is because I stared at it for so long.
