For the bows, I used home-made pastillage made of just royal icing and tylose powder. It gets dried quickly and not so stretchy like fondant, but it's convenient for me because it's easy to make only a small amount. (I can never use up store-bought fondant.)

Interesting idea with the bows...You are SO right about not being able to use up fondant when you work primarily with RI. Even buying just the 8 oz containers of fondant doesn't get used up fast enough before it gets hard and becomes unuseable (is that a word?). Hugs...

Thank you!! Another option for me is to use tinted cookie dough instead of fondant. but I can't get some light colors because cookie dough is yellowish...
