Edible Paper Q&A

What the heck is the difference between wafer paper and frosting sheets? Where can you get pre-printed papers, and how can you print your own? These are just some of the topics that are fair game in this forum!

Meet Our November Site Artist!

Julia M. Usher
Finally! At long last, Missouri has jumped fully into fall, all in the 11 few days that I was in Japan. My green trees suddenly have tinges of red and orange on them, and all of the seed pods in my garden are now definitively VERY brown. I chose this month's site artist (Timea Gazdagné Görbe, aka @PUDING FARM) not only because her work very much conveys the state of my fall yard , but also because poppies are the symbol of "remembrance". Later this month, we have one of our...Read More...

An Important Announcement About the JULIA Airbrush System

Julia M. Usher
Hi, everyone! The JULIA Airbrush System sold more quickly than ever anticipated and, as some of you may know, is now stocked out. Thank you to everyone who supported the product through their purchases. I am so grateful to you! Several people have asked when it will be available again, and, instead of responding to each and every one of you separately, here's the official answer for all. I regret to say that I have no plans to release any more of this particular system . It’s a long story,...Read More...

How to Edit or Delete Your Own Content

Julia M. Usher
Hi, all, I've been receiving an unusually large number of questions about how members can edit or delete their own content. It's super important for you to know how to do this, as I typically do not edit posts for people, unless I happen to see a misclassified image or other typo. It can also take me several hours to days to respond to site inquiries like this, as I work several other jobs. That being said, your surest bet for getting a quick answer is to familiarize yourself with our site...Read More...

Important Reminder about Copying and Posting Characters without Permission

Julia M. Usher
Hi, all, regrettably, I've recently had to delete some images from challenges and other areas of the site due to lack of compliance with Rule #8 of our posting guidelines, which states that artwork (including characters, from Disney, Hasbro, etc.) cannot be copied and posted here without permission from the creator : http://cookieconnection.juliau...READ-BEFORE-YOU-POST In response to those deletions, some members have asked me why so many licensed character cookies exist on the site,...Read More...

Adjusting Your Email Notifications and Onsite Alerts

Julia M. Usher
We all have different message-reading tastes, so Cookie Connection has been designed to allow for everyone's individual differences! The site's default email and onsite alert notifications are set to show you most of the site info that you could get notified about, just so you're aware of the site's full functionality. But I recognize that this amount of info may (or may not) be overkill for you. That said, I recommend that you edit your "Notifications" settings as soon as you join the site...Read More...

Frosting Sheets Not Sticking to Cookie

I recently used icing sheets for the first time. I let the royal icing on the cookie dry completely before applying the icing sheet. I thought I had read somewhere that to use the icing sheet I just needed to peel off the backing and it sticks to the cookie, but that didn't happen. I ended up thinning out some royal icing to use as a "glue". I put a thin layer on the back of the icing sheet before placing on the cookie. This seemed to work, but I got some bubbling up on some. Would love any...Read More...

Bagging Cookies with Edible Papers

Hi, I make a shortbread cookie. I then ice it with royal icing and let it dry overnight. I apply the edible image using either Crisco, or piping gel. Around the edges I use either light corn syrup or piping gel to add the sprinkles. I let that dry overnight before putting them in a sealed bag. My problem: a few days after bagging, the cookies start to look wet. Almost as if I didn't let them dry enough (overnight I thought was long enough). I have attached a photo to show you what is...Read More...

Royal Icing on Top of Edible Paper

Blondie's Sweet Shop
I have used edible paper many times in the past, but have never decorated on top of the paper before. Will icing bleed through or cause the paper to deteriorate if you you pipe royal icing detail directly on top of the papers after they are placed on the cookies? I would like to try this to create dimension on logo cookies, but I don't want to ruin them. Any tips for this would be greatly appreciated, thank you!Read More...

Frosting OVER Printed Design

Cookie goddesses, please help me!! I have received a last minute order that wants script under a picture on a square cookie. Obviously, it would be a lot faster to be able to "trace" the script...Can I print on rice or wafer paper, adhere to dried royal icing, and then PIPE over the design? I'm terrified the whole thing will fall off...and these cookies are for my local chamber of commerce, so I need to put out an impressive cookie!! Read More...
