Tiny Craters in My Dots! Why?

I made royal icing and flooded all my cookies last night finishing at 2am. I was using the little bottles to flood. covered all the tips when finished and left the bottles on the counter overnight. This morning, the cookies were completely dry. I piped dots on my birthday candles and as they were drying, little holes (craters), appeared in my dots!!! I've never had that problem before.

Is there something wrong with my icing? Do I have to throw away all unused icing every time and make fresh the next day? Could it be the recipe? I add glycerine 1t and syrup 1T but That's always how I make it.

Why the tiny craters? What am I doing wrong? So sad. All my work ruined.
