Introducing Our August 2020 Site Artist!

I'd wager that know her well, because she's been featured here before! Yes, it's @PUDING FARM, aka Timea Gazdagné Görbe, one of our serial site contributors!

This month, Timea has given us the pleasure of featuring her dimensional raspberry masterpiece, which posted to Cookie Connection a few months back. It's ideally suited to summertime in the northern hemisphere, as raspberries and blackberries are at their peak in August. (I know, our farm's swath of bushes is producing like crazy right now, yet we barely had enough to meet the demand at last weekend's farmer's market!)

Anywho, back to real cookies! Here's a reminder of Timea's masterpiece and how it's going to view on the site this entire month!

So fabulously lifelike, right?! Thank you, Timea, for sharing your beautiful cookies and photos with us in this way!

Because Timea has contributed site art before, she's already been featured in the requisite Cookier Close-up that comes with that territory. Her interview was an especially interesting one insofar as she included a couple of in-depth tutorials that show the secrets behind some of her dimensional botanical work. If you don't know Timea and her cookies already, I encourage you to check out that Close-up and her bio below.

Timea Gazdagné Görbe is the owner of PUDING FARM. She first became interested in crafts in her early childhood, and, as she grew to adulthood, she tried her hand at a wide range of art disciplines. As a young child, she was a pupil of the Hungarian State Ballet Institute in Budapest; she also acted and did voiceovers for Hungarian television. Later on, Timea tried tasks requiring greater manual dexterity, such as freehand graphics, portrait drawing, leather craftsmanship, jewelry making, and even Native American plaiting and woodcarving. While working in a graphics studio, she participated in several graphic exhibitions and won national and international prizes for her work.

Since 2006, gingerbread baking and decorating have become Timea’s main hobbies. Early on, she decorated her delicious gingerbread with monochrome royal icing and extraordinary precision, solely for the delight of her family and friends. But, recently, she has explored more colorful and elaborate works, plunging headfirst into the world of pastry art. Because she likes challenges, and because it’s the tiny details that inspire her most, Timea has focused on recreating snapshots of nature in 3-D using royal icing. It’s not easy to make shapes with this icing because it is so fragile, but Timea has nevertheless managed to capture the delicacy and realism of nature in her work. Her love for this hobby led her to earn a confectioner's degree in 2018 with excellent results.

For more information about Timea and her work, please check out her Facebook page.

And, for those of you who are wondering how to get featured, it's easy! Simply read these posts here and here. Remember: Site artists not only get their work featured prominently for a full month, but they also get profiled in a forum post (like this one) and in an in-depth Cookier Close-up interview. All considered, it's a lot of great free PR in exchange for photo sharing! When preparing your site art, please bear in mind that I already have artwork through December 2020, so I am specifically looking for art that relates to January 2021 (New Year or New Year's Eve, perhaps?) and beyond. Please also remember that @Icingsugarkeks, our new Site Art Stylist, is available to help you get your photos in the right format, so do not hesitate to contact her if you need assistance! You can send her a PM right here on Cookie Connection by clicking on her name (in pink) above.

Thanks in advance for considering a contribution to the site!
