Say Hello to Our November 2020 Site Artist!

I'm fully expecting our November site artist to be completely surprised by this announcement. You see, that site artist is none other than @Icingsugarkeks, aka Gabi, our official Site Art Stylist who now, quite wonderfully, prepares all of our monthly site art by recomposing cookie photos that she finds here.

But . . . it's not what you might be thinking . . . Gabi, of course, did not select herself for this month! Oh, no! Instead, she selected me and a 3-D woodland cookie I did last year. What Gabi doesn't know (or, at least, won't until she reads this post) is that, while I appreciated her nod to my work, I decided to feature her recently submitted fall leaf extravaganza instead. I mean, there is only so much looking at my own work that I can take. Plus, I just love, love, love the luminosity and life in that leaf set (I also love alliteration, LOL! ) Plus, I am sure you will love it too! Plus, I wanted to give Gabi a little shout-out for all the hard work she's been putting into our site art. She now has banners and backdrops planned through May of next year! Woo hoo!

So, without further ado, here is Gabi's leaf set, which you'll find beautifying our banner and backdrop for the next 30 days or so . . .

Again, HUGE thanks to Gabi for not only contributing her own cookie art to this site, but also for working so diligently to shape yours into stunning site banners and backdrops. Let's give Gabi a huge round of applause. Now, to learn more about Gabi, please read her bio below (or on the Contributors page) and her recent in-depth Cookier Close-up interview, which was a delight for me to do.

Icingsugarkeks, designedbygabi, and Gabi are all synonyms behind which a now very withdrawn person is hiding. (Sorry, no headshot! )

Even in her earliest childhood, Gabi showed respect for others, learning from her wonderful parents who exemplified mutual caring and support. Gabi’s husband, two sons, and parents are her greatest pride and source of encouragement! Having grown up in nature, Gabi developed a great love for animals and plants. She also enjoys many hobbies, including drawing, baking, DIY, photography, and computer work. As Icingsugarkeks, she taught herself how to design 3-D cookie cutters on the PC, and she now quickly designs everything she needs for cookies all by herself. (It is really not that difficult, she says!)

In her previous job as a media and graphic designer, Gabi was involved in image processing, film cutting, television programming, print media, and website design and programming. Gabi never thought that she would love HTML and CSS one day! But she does! All of her websites were very playfully built on it.

Gabi got to know Pinterest and Instagram during a long hospital stay and found there the first pictures from Julia’s Cookie Connection! In that moment, the love of baking and decorating cookies became an addiction. Gabi is amazed at how many like-minded people there are! And what awesome talents! At home in Germany, in the green heart of Thüringen, Gabi (ahem, Icingsugarkeks) now feels like a happy member of this unique, creative, and spectacular website and community!

HEADS UP: If you are interested in submitting art, we are now well stocked through May 2021. We are, however, seeking submissions for June 2021 and beyond. To submit, simply read these posts here and here. Or reach out to @Icingsugarkeks who is available to help you get your photos into the right format. Remember: Site artists not only get their work featured prominently for a full month, but they also get profiled in a forum post and in an in-depth Cookier Close-up interview. All considered, it's a lot of great free PR in exchange for photo sharing!
