Coronavirus and Cookie Connection

Hi, all! Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic and associated health worries, event cancellations, and general world chaos have thrown a number of our lives out of whack. My March, April, and May went from over-scheduled to completely empty in the course of 24 hours, as four major events postponed or cancelled. (Well, empty except for the busy-ness of having to reschedule everything.) But . . . more importantly, everyone in my family seems to be healthy so far, and our aim is to remain that way.

I sincerely hope each and every one of you is staying safe and sound during these tumultuous and scary times. Fortunately, here on Cookie Connection, we needn't adhere to "social distancing" rules - we can send virtual hugs and kisses as much as we'd like! So, please, if you're feeling isolated, down in the dumps, or just not your usual self as a result of all of this, don't hesitate to reach out here for some love and support from me and your Cookie Connection friends. After all, that's what this community is all about!

XOXO

We are so grateful to you, Julia, for bringing us this platform to come together during both great times and times like this.  Our industry and so many others are clearly going to have a some uncertainty over the next few weeks but I know our cookie community will come together not only to lift each other up but to do what needs to be done in our homes, cities and beyond.  Peace, love, cookies and most of all, at this time, good health to everyone and their families!

Your the best.
For a sleepy mountain town on the northern borders of Greece we have 14 RECORDED cases and 1 death. Many people paid for private testing after a group of 300 returned from the fur show in Milan so we suspected many of them are positive but unaccounted for.  😡

A seminar I worked so hard on preparing was cancelled by law! I was so disappointed!

We are on lockdown , the town is closed up except the pharmacy and the supermarket , people started panic buying yesterday.

The windows are washed, garden in tip top shape, I’ll start organizing my cookie room, and hopefully find the inspiration to design a new set of cookies! But honestly it’s kind of an emotional roller coaster seeing how something like this can cause world havoc !

I’m hoping everyone of you remains safe and once again thank you Julia for creating a safe place for us!
Hugs🥰

Thanks for beautiful words Julia! It's nice to hear you and your loved ones are safe and sound.
I am so thankful for you for creating such a wonderful online community so that we can be in touch even during challenging situations like this.

Sending my prayers, hugs and kisses to everyone and their families!

May God bless you and family! ❤️

It is written so kindly and warmly. 😘❤️ Thank you for the loving words!!  Of course, I also wish you Julia and everyone else the best of health and do not let them get upset. Maybe you can let your now empty diary calm down a little and recharge your batteries.
And... I love the smileys. I like to be generous with it!! I send 1000 virtual hugs to all!!

Yes, it may be a blessing for me. Time to catch up on my real life and other neglected things - like sleep. I just hope our world is restored to a state of calm and order very soon; this is so scary for so many.

Thank you for the post. Baking is so fun for me but even more so when you get to belong to a great community. Baking has seen me through good times and bad! 💖

I hear you. Our passions really can lift us up in rough times. I'm taking a break for a few days though (okay, maybe just a day ) . I need to sleep before I can regroup and set forward on a new plan for the next few months.

Thank you so much, Julia, for such a warm message.  I feel so lucky to have this  community, an international community.  We have friends all over the world with a common love of all things cookie/royal icing, but also of each other.  I wish you all and your families safety, health and comfort through this mess.  I, for one, am obsessively practicing making roses and other RI flowers.   The first thing I bought in bulk was powdered sugar, then flour and butter.  Love to all,   Shea

Thank YOU for your warm message! I'm hunkering down and planning another video shoot, earlier than I would have otherwise!

Can't wait!!  Love your videos.

Thank you for your words, Julia! I am now less stressed with my post graduation, separating from my husband all of a sudden, coming from my City of Belo Horizonte been hit hard with floodings not seen in more than one hundred years in January and February, lots of destruction and lost orders for me, dozens of deaths, and now, the Covid-19 and no orders at all for more than two weeks. To make things worse,  my last Friday client just told me her husband might have Covid19  and now I am under quarentine, praying that his test is negative and I did not get it from her when she came to get the cookies ( oh all the kisses we Brazillians do!!)🤣🤣🤣🤣

Things can get pretty nasty in Brazil, so we are all very worried!

But!! ,🤣🤣🤗🤗The bright side! I am back, can say hello to all and make the cookies I want just to have fun!! Hoping that everybody stays healthy!

Xoxo!

Oh, gosh, I am so sorry to learn of your many hardships over the last few months - that's more than one person should have to shoulder. So take care - and stay strong. Please keep us posted on your test results (if you'd like). I am hoping for the best!

just a general question,  where can I find the half round molds that are used in making the 3-D teacup,  I purchased silicone molds and they are way too flimsy.   Thank you!

I use silicone molds, and they work just fine. The link to the ones I used in that project are under the video on YouTube, in the video description there. That's where I always list and link to key sources. If you Google "2 3/4-inch-diameter silicone hemisphere molds", a lot will come up, and all should work.

Suddenly, God bless and keep you well has profound wishes and hopes attached, as we all hope to hide away from this invisible intruder, covid19. Thank you for the message, @Julia M Usher! It was a reminder that sweet things still beacon our attention to a more beautiful place. May he keep you and yours well, Kim
