Featuring the "Bear" for a baby shower

Recently, a client came to me requesting a set of bear themed cookies for her granddaughter's baby shower. She had seen a bear set that I had done in 2016 and chose a couple of those designs that she wanted to use. She also liked a couple of mini cookies that were part of the set but she didn't want mini cookies...she wanted regular sized cookies. I had to improvize. I made a cookie cutter of the sippy cup with a bow and the rocking horse since I didn't already have a cutter. Of course the timeline was really, really tight and I've been working like a crazy little cookier to complete it all on time . You all know what that's like I'm sure .

The large bear has a "fuzzy" technique that was in my original set (I've attached that set here for you - I wanted to update the cookie designs to incorporate learned techniques since 2016). The "fuzzy" technique was something that I had seen from SweetAmbs on a bear project she had done. You can see her tutorial at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFJD-8QFoac. Such a great idea!!

The vest idea originally came from a tutorial by Marlyn of Montreal Confections @Montreal Confections. Here's that tutorial for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...F0FQEqg10&t=531s.

I tried to use Sonja's @iSugarfy (aka swissophie) technique for knitting with RI for the vest but failed miserably. I decided to try something different and hope it looks like a vest. It almost looks like the bear is holding a book...well, it's really intended to be a vest. HaHa.

I'm shipping the cookies tomorrow and am eager to hear the response from my client . Sure hope she likes the updated look

Oh, I absolutely adore this set, dear Carol ❤️❤️❤️! The teddies are super cute! Just love how the little guy looks up at his balloons 😍😍😍!

And I'm so happy you gave the knitting a try. You certainly did not fail at all! Some knit a bit looser than others with yarn knitting too 😊. The stiffer the icing the tighter the stitches will look. And I personally only can pipe the knit stitch with parchment paper cones... metal tips are too rigid, and won't work for me with this.

The vest looks fabulous to me, my sweet friend, and I'm sure your client will be thrilled with this wonderful set 😀!

Yes, the knitting didn't go as well as I had hoped but I figure that giving it a try is always a good thing. Learning is a slow process and so worth the time. Interesting that you find using parchment cones is the best way to achieve the knitting appearance. I'll have to give it a try.
