This is correct. The site rules say do not post ANY copies of ANY artwork (characters or any other source inspiration of any form) that is not yours or known to be in the public domain without seeking permission first and then properly attributing. (This is all explained in the link I posted above.)
The issue here is that this rule is very tough for me to enforce, because people do not follow it each day, I cannot always tell if an image was copied (some people copy more obscure artwork than others), and I do not know if they received permission to post it unless they say or I ask. So some apparent inequities have occurred, because I cannot monitor all cookies posted to this site. All I can say is I am trying to do my best, and I hope that people will help me out by trying to do the same. Thanks!
I am sorry, Julia, I am asking just for understanding correct rules and follow them.
That means I can't post a cookie with a Picasso masterpiece without asking permission to Picasso's intelectual property inheritors?
It's my opinion, but isn't it too much? I mean, I usually use my own ideas, but the line between inspiration and copy is thin, and so between a copy and a tribute.
I am precisely working on some Picasso's "Guernica" cookies; it's an stunning masterpiece and also a picture full of meaning for Spanish people. And honestly, this kind of cookie is perfect to be shared. For me, cookies are an amazing way to express myself and not just a exhibition of beauty.
Of course I accept Cookie Connection rules. But I also would like to reflect the difficult of setting the limits of this rule and the importance of being respectful and honest like first and more important rule.

If the art is not in the public domain, then you should not be copying without permission, period. Please understand: this is not MY rule or an arbitrary site rule; it is copyright law. This is not me being extreme; I am just trying to inform people of and uphold proper copyright law on this site. Please review the posting guidelines again; they contain a link with several lawyers' commentary on this matter. They also have a link about finding works in the public domain that can safely be copied.
