Thanks to Christine and Julia for this challenge.

I always wanted to make a lantern out of cookie and this was my opportunity. This lantern consists of 3 parts- two cookies, one for the base and one for the top of the lantern and the isomalt stain glass lantern panels. I used two different stain glass techniques for this project.

The two cookies were based on the technique by sweetambs (https://www.sweetambs.com/tuto...tained-glass-cookie/). I have never used the Wilton edible glue before and I really liked the technique. For the isomalt panels, I used the technique given on Yeners way. I first drew a pattern then rolled out gumpaste and cut out the lines of the pattern. I then colored melted isomalt and filled it in.

Isomalt is easy to work with and a microwave was used to melt it. However, I found using a silicone cup or spatula helps a great deal with cleaning. Learning to use isomalt for the first time was not easy, but it was a great learning experience.

(I used a light here as it shows off the design well).

Oh Zeena, this is an amazing entry! Congratulations! Thanks for all your detailed description. The final touch with the light enhanced your beautiful work♥️

Thank you Heather for your comments. It was a challenging but fun learning experience.

Your lantern looks like a beautiful piece of stained glass art! The two different stained glass techniques work so wonderfully together. I really love how you have illuminated your lantern to show the beauty of the "stained glass" isomalt.

Thank you Christine @Sweet Prodigy. I really learned a lot from doing this project.

What an amazing lantern dear Zeena @Zeena!! I love the 3D creation and all the wonderful detail you've achieved. Just fabulous work my dear . Wow, this is the first time you've worked with isomalt??? Simply incredible! I've always been challenged when working with it because it gets so very hot and cools off super fast. You've got to keep it hot with a burner or keep microwaving the isomalt in order to continue working with it in one session. I love this so much!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you very much Carol for your comments. It is indeed my first time using isomalt. I appreciate the tips you give and will certainly keep in mind the next time I use isomalt.
