Our new October site art has posted, as I'm sure you know. It's pretty darn impossible to miss! I've been gawking at its brilliance for the last several minutes like the most ardent of leaf peepers in the peak weeks of the season. Thank you, @LisaF, for contributing your cookie artistry to the site, and thanks to our Site Art Stylist Gabi, aka @Icingsugarkeks, for translating Lisa's original post into the needed formats for the site's banner and backdrop - and for adding her own special spins, of course. (Don't you just love Gabi's floating leaf animation in the banner? And, if you watch it long enough, you'll be surprised by a little smiley face and credit to Lisa at the end!)

As always, I like to feature my site artists as a way of thanking them for their contributions, and so I'll be conducting an in-depth Cookier Close-up interview with Lisa in the coming months. Since I'm running a bit behind on Close-ups and pretty much everything else in life (I'm just starting work on the one for @Zeena, our August site artist), expect Lisa's interview to post in November.

While you're patiently waiting for this backlog of interviews, take a moment to get to know Lisa and her philanthropic efforts a bit better by reading her brief bio and exploring her social media links below.

Lisa Foss is a hobbyist cookie decorator. After careers in corporate communications and freelance writing, she focused her attention on the non-profit sector. She spent more than a decade at various soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and prison reentry programs throughout New York City.

Lisa’s cookie journey began in 2011 when she started making gingerbread houses.  After getting a handle on construction, she focused on improving her decorating skills through books, videos, and online tutorials. This exploration brought her to Cookie Connection, which has provided her with an incredible community to learn from and grow with.

Though she enjoys making cookies for family and friends, Lisa’s main focus is cookies for charity. She has frequently donated cookies to Food Bank for New York City, Boys and Girls Club of Harlem, and the Children’s Aid Society, among others.  In 2020, Lisa and her husband moved from New York to the eastern shore of Maryland where they already had a part-time residence. The move has enabled her to significantly improve her decorating skills. She continues to donate cookies to various local charities.

For more information about Lisa and her work, please check out her Facebook and Instagram pages.

Last but not least, for those of you who are wondering how to get featured, it's easy! Simply read these posts here and here. Remember: Site artists not only get their work featured prominently for a full month, but they also get profiled in a forum post and in an in-depth Cookier Close-up interview. All considered, it's a lot of great free PR in exchange for photo sharing! When preparing your site art, please bear in mind that I already have artwork through June 2022, so I am specifically looking for art for July 2022 and beyond. Please also remember that @Icingsugarkeks, our Site Art Stylist, is available to help you get your photos in the right format, so do not hesitate to contact her if you need assistance! You can send her a PM right here on Cookie Connection by clicking on her name (in pink) above.

Thanks in advance for considering a contribution to the site!

Oh dear Lisa, 😘
I now know why you have such a good heart ... Anyone who has worked in jobs like you sees the suffering in front of them every day and probably can't help but help ...
No, you have to have a good heart, and you definitely have that, Lisa !! I'm looking forward to your interview!
I'm glad you like the site art. I found the smiley face from your CC avatar so cute and took it out of it.   @LisaF
