What a glorious set of cookies for such a milestone event! Your roses are beautiful.  Are the edges hand-painted? And I just Googled "Lambeth style" and learned all kinds of things about ornately-piped cake and cookie decorations for a Sunday morning! What a terrific challenge entry!

Thanks, Christine!

Nope, the edges are not painted, but piped. Before filling the icing into the bag, I brushed a thin trail of gel color directly onto the seam of the bag. The results are unpredictable, from just a slight tinge to dark pink edges - but that's what I like about that technique

I just love Lambeth, though you need a lot of space to go truly wild. Cookies are therefore not ideal. But as it is a classical wedding cake style, I thought it'd go well with the occasion anyway.

So gorgeous.  I love that you "gilded" the raw cookie edges and also the royal icing on top of the cookies.  That is really a nice contrast of the use of the gold.  The designs really enhance the shape of the cookies so well.

Thanks for your lovely comment.

I considered piping a border, but thought it would be a little too much. Glad that you like the alternative, just gold paint

Laegwen - these cookies are beautiful. I love the colors. Are the roses hand piped? They are amazing. And your presentation is beautiful as well. May I ask, do you decorate cakes as well? I ask because some of those techniques (i.e. lambeth) are done on cakes. Again, they are beautiful and too pretty to eat.

The roses are hand piped, yes. And I actually started out with cakes before I switched to cookies. Cookies have so many advantages: they keep for months, they are easily made in advance, don't need to chilled, and people actually eat them! The cakes I made mostly went to the bin. People were too scared to eat them, and fondant doesn't taste that good in addition. So after I had seen another cake being thrown away, I went for cookies instead and have not regretted it

I love these cookies, telling they are beautiful is not enough. I agree with Teri, "regal" is the right word to describe them. I love the color contrast, the design, the way you filled the space of each cookie with the decoration and the harmony of all the cookies together. And of course the most important thing, the roses are just perfect.

Thanks for this amazing review, I have just grown at least an inch! I wish I had your talent when commenting...

WHAT!?  The cakes were thrown away?!  Unbelievable.

They could've just pulled the fondant off of their portions. If they were afraid to eat it because it was too beautiful they should've taken it to a Taxidermist!   Arrrg!   If there's ever a next time make the cake out of styrofoam...

OK, down to the business at hand.

The cookies are beautiful Laegwen and I'll bet they made a special couple and their guests very happy.

As Cookie Connection commented,  painting the edges of the cookies gold was a brilliant idea.  You iced your cookies with such accuracy that the width of the edges are consistent all the way around each cookie!

Your piping skills, composition and colors are prize winning. And those roses look so delicate that I thought they were made of wafer paper.

Yep, cookies can be eaten, but saving one or two makes a lovely momento. (And they won't need to take them to a Taxidermist.)

Lovely! Question: Are you doing something new with your photography as well? The image itself is also quite eye-catching!

Ok, that made me laugh real hard at five in the morning. A taxidermist would have been the solution to my cake problems. And not all of them were thrown away. Only, when I did a cake, it was for special occasions, and there were other, normal, cakes, too. So when the people finally dared to start with my picture cake, everyone had had at least two pieces of cake before

Thanks a lot for your kind comments about my cookies, I also thought the Roses looked a bit like wafer paper. I hope the couple will like them, they will be handed over tomorrow. And I'm sure they will turn at least one into a keepsake

Yes, I am in the process of building my own "photo studio". I use a white cardboard to reflect the light better and for this picture I used small LED lamps to set additional highlights. Glad you noticed

WOW, Laegwen. You're amazing.

I am sorry but I found a mistake on your picture... the cup is empty! All the rest is simply amazing. A m a z i n g.

Thanks so much! And shame on me, I forgot the coffee

Laegwen...what an incredibly beautiful set!!! Words fail to express the impact of the design, colors, attention to detail....just everything. Suffice it to say that your work is impeccable . Oh, and did I tell you how much I love it??? Lol.

Just started to get back to cookie decorating after the fiasco that has been my life over the last 10 days. I'm eager to create once again...seeing everyone's beautiful work is inspiring.
