Ghouls just want to have...candy!

I cut the cookie shape freehand using the template.  I used and sculpted  marshmallow fondant to cover the cookie (ghosts, candy bag, pumpkins).

I did something very different than I've seen any cookie artist do to date (I don't claim that I'm first, I just haven't seen it done--admittedly I haven't seen every cookie artist), to achieve more depth to the 2D cookie.  To give the ghosts more dimension, and a rounded appearance at the edges of the ghostly shapes: I wrapped the fondant over the edges of the cookie.

The pumpkins sit on top (2 are from molds, but I didn't have the correct size for the one on the left, so I sculpted it), and finish at the edges; and, I used the naked right side of the cookie to convey night time.  I purposefully made my cookie dough dark chocolate (my absolute favorite) with black velvet dutched cocoa powder so that I could leave some of the cookie naked (for night time background).

I ended up airbrushing with pearl sheen to give it a more ghostly appearance, then a bit of metallic silver airbrush for depth (then SugarArt Elite deep brown for shadowing), because I realized that the ghost on the right was a wee bit darker.  I must have accidentally mixed in some dark chocolate cookie crumbs when I added the ruffles.

I sculpted eye sockets, then added dots of black royal icing (flood consistency).

The headstone is a bought, pre-made sprinkle.  Added just because it's fun.  And who is going to chase after them through the graveyard to recover their stolen candy!

I really pushed myself on this one.  But once I saw trick or treating (stealing candy) ghosts, I couldn't "unsee" it, so I had to cookie it.

I would have to agree that the ghosts can't be unseen. You did an excellent job of incorporating the entire shape into your design. I also love that you have added a 3-D element to your design. This is an excellent entry!

That's very kind of you, thank you!
