I don’t remember how long ago Julia first posted her candelabra video but it completely blew me away. I knew I wanted to attempt it (or something similar) but never got around to it. I was so thrilled when she offered a virtual class for it. I knew I was finally going to do the project! Believe me when I tell you, the class did not disappoint. I learned so much. Not everything went as planned (the stamping was a fiasco and those pine cones almost broke me) and it took me forever (I was very, very slow!). But I am so pleased with the final result. It was such a good lesson in process, planning and the importance of details. I have been so inspired by Julia, Samantha @Aproned Artist Manu @Manu biscotti decorati  Evelin  @Evelindecora and countless others on this site this year. I’m looking forward to next year, new projects and discovering where all the inspiration takes me. Thank you so much to everyone!

Wow πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘, incredible job!! Amazing! I do love this candelabra, I would be afraid of realizing a creation like that and you did it perfectly!! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Thank you so much Elena. I definitely took my time with it, which was critical. I’m a corner cutter so I had to fight that urge!

OMG!! WOW!! Lisa, that's absolutely breathtaking!!! You will be the 2nd Julia!!
Really totally beautiful work!! ❀️ @LisaF

Lol! Far from it Gabi but thank you for your kind words. I will say, I did work very hard on this .  I definitely paid more attention to the details than I usually do. It was very good training for me. ❀️😘

Never stop amazing me with your work, dear Lisa! You’ve suddenly  bloomed. This is amazing. Your dedication and hard work shines through. Congratulations dear friend. And this is only the beginning!β™₯️

Thank you so much Heather. I do feel like I’ve turned a bit of a corner in terms of skill. I often remember once when I posted something and was rather self critical. You very kindly chastised me for being too tough on myself. I told my sister about it and she agreed with you.  Sometimes now when I am too self critical  she says β€œDon’t make me call Heather!” πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

made me laugh!!! You and your sister are so sweet! Huge hug to both, dear Lisa.β™₯️β™₯️

WOW! (So sorry for the delayed response - just seeing this now.) You did such a super job with one of my more challenging projects. Your time and care really show! Thanks so much for sharing your results here - you should be super proud!

Thank you Julia. I AM quite tickled with myself. I took my time, redid, regrouped and did all sorts of troubleshooting. I learned a lot about my own patience and the various things I need to do mentally to enjoy the process. It was a really positive experience. ❀️😁😊

Oh Lisa!!! WOW...incredible work my dear and how fun to participate in Julia's virtual class for this project. It's truly one of my favorites (it STILL blows me away ). A lot of work!!! But look at all the techniques you've learned and incorporated in this finished 3D piece. Your patience and commitment to the detail helped to make it even more amazing @LisaF!!!

Ahhhhh, those pinecones! I can well imagine the challenge they presented in this project. The beauty of virtual classes is that you can go at your own pace, right? I've considered enrolling in a virtual class but have yet to do it...there's so much that I know I'd learn!

I hope your Christmas was absolutely fabulous. Here's to 2023! ❀️❀️❀️ Hugs...

Thank you so much Carol. I highly recommend a virtual class, if you have the time. It’s always a nice group of participants. In my case, it forces me to set aside a specific time to focus on cookies, trying new techniques and tackling a project. Even if I have already tried some of the techniques, I always always learn something new.
I hope your Christmas was delightful as well. Fingers crossed for the new year!❀️😘πŸͺ

You go at your own pace? Is that how it works? As I've not taken a virtual class yet I'm curious about how they work @LisaF. The level of detail you achieved with this very difficult project encourages me to take the plunge. Learning new things along with improving my current skills is tempting indeed.

Thank you for your positive comments about your experience.  That's always really helpful in decision making! I hope you have a healthy, happy New Year. Hugs...

You can absolutely goat your own pace virtually. All of the course materials are supplied in advance. This includes lists of what you should prep ahead of time, the class agenda any necessary templates and just about any detail you can imagine. The print material is very comprehensive. I like to read it ahead of time to know what to expect. There are some things you can and should do in advance. You can work along with Julia, as she demonstrates. Or, you can listen/watch and then work later either during the time allotted in class or after the class ends. All the participants seem to do some variation of all of the above. Julia is available throughout the class and afterwards  for any questions troubleshooting etc. For the candelabra class, I did a decent amount in advance because I anticipated more issues than I ended up having. Then I spent most of the class just listening, watching and paying attention as Julia helped some of the other participants troubleshoot. I actually finished my project once the class finished. I stretched it out over a number of days because I really wanted to take my time and focus on details. Julia made it clear to everyone that she was basically β€œon call” for any type of follow-up.

Lisa described (really well) how I manage my classes - with REALLY detailed prep notes and source links that come right when you sign up, time in class to follow along, recorded videos that come after the live class is over in case you missed anything, etc. I provide all tools/videos via my Eventbrite platform and Zoom (with video recordings stored long-term in a private area on YouTube). My classes also typically span two days (10 hrs) with time in between to finish Day #1 because my projects tend to be pretty involved. Most other online classes are shorter (a few hours), and many work through a Facebook group. Support in and out of class can vary a lot too based on what I’ve seen from other instructors.

Tell me please where to source the mold for the vertical gold leaf on top and the supporting feet.  LOVELY lovely work!

This piece is one of my designs taught in a class last year; I also have a YouTube video that covers all of the details. The triangular molds at the bottom are from First Impressions Molds; the leaf mold that I used at the top was originally from Antique Designer Molds, but they are no longer in business. You can find knock-off molds just like it if you Google "fancy leaf molds". If you check out the video description for my video on YouTube (under my JuliaMUsher channel), you'll find most of the sources listed there.

One of my favorite things about Julia’s classes is the advance prep.  She painstakingly provides sources and resources.  I always find something new and interesting.
