This set that has been in my mind for almost a year. The glass on the doors is isomalt poured over a SugarVeil mat. You canโ€™t see that in the main picture but the isomalt on the doors has a texture. I made the first experiment embossing isomalt with another version of my Fall lantern (tutorial):

The texture left on @Julia M. Usher โ€œ3-D Retro Oven Cookieโ€ (the project that inspired my Fall Lantern tutorial) after she poured isomalt on a silicon mat, inspired me to try to pour isomalt over SugarVeil mats. Mrs. Hester, @SugarVeil, says that her mats are suitable for being used with isomalt, and they are. Moreover, SugarVeil lace and isomalt can be used together.

Here you can see the texture on the doors

For the little lanterns, I flooded the cookies with white royal icing. Once it was dry I overpiped the details of the lantern with medium consistency grey royal icing especially to create a dam to be filled later with isomalt.

And now allow me to spam you with few more pictures as only we cookiers know the amount of work behind these ephemeral cookies!!!

See how I made the mums in my tutorial here on Cookie Connection (Step 2):

Thank you, Christine @Bakerloo Station for another great Challenge.

Hi Manu!   We start seeing mums, still hot but fall is just in front of us.  I especially like the effect on isomalt with SugarVeil mat.  That's really pretty doors.   I want that doors for my house actually.

Thank you @Ryoko ~Cookie Ave., I am not sure they have mums here in Bangkok,  but I saw Sunflowers and also Sunflowers  in December in Dubai decorating a roundabout... so I wouldnโ€™t be surprised.

At the moment these mums here and their colors are inspired only by my memories of Fall! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

Was just zooming in on the main picture, and thought it's the background showing through the doors, but you cleared that up ๐Ÿ˜Š. Just saying the texture can be seen in that pic as well. It's gorgeous โฃ๏ธ The whole set is fantastic, Manu! I so like those mums, too ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜!

Thank you, Sonja @iSugarfy (aka swissophie)! it is always so much fun to create something for the Challenge. I know, at first glance you canโ€™ tell if the texture is on the background or on the isomalt. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š I also zoom in to look better at the details all the time!!!

Really nice work, Manu! I do love all of the details โค๏ธ

Thank you, Christine @Sweet Prodigy, I started with the idea of the three different colors of  the mums and then I went on figuring out the other colors and details... color combination is my kriptonite and it took forever to decide. The background I choose at the beginning didnโ€™t match anymore and therefore I choose to use โ€œour plateโ€! The converging lines add perspective! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Oh what a creative idea @Manu biscotti decorati!! I love how you designed the double door and lanterns to the side. The isomalt turned out perfect! Beautiful work, as always

I've been playing around with isomalt and found that the isomalt in 2 projects I had done turned cloudy before I completed the decorating on the cookies. (Definitely didn't want to post those for the challenge!!) Not sure what I'm doing wrong as it's not humid here in AZ and I've done a lot of reading and watching videos about the product . Will keep at it...not about to give up as this should be simple and straightforward when you simply want to fill a decent sized heart shaped opening. Ugh

Thank you Carol , @Cookies Fantastique

I poured isomalt on the cookies this morning and waited a couple of hours for a bit of sunlight to take pictures. I am surprised that yours turned cloudy before you finished decorating.

It is very humid here in Bangkok and I worked with air conditioning on. After I took the pictures I put the cookies under a glass cloche with some silica gels (I had a lot of them leftovers from the moving boxes and nobody will eat this cookies). I took this picture now, after more than 12 hours from pouring isomalt and they still look perfect. I didnโ€™t open the cloche to take a picture because the A/C is off now. I used a glass to elevate the doors, if you are wondering about those weird lines. I will keep monitoring them in the next days and probably I will bag them tomorrow, just to see how the isomalt behave. I will keep you posted.

I melted isomalt in a pan on the stove and I used a thermometer.

Thank you for your comments and pictures @Manu biscotti decorati! It sounds like I followed the exact same steps as you, even using the silica gel packs. Did you seal the doors and lanterns into containers or bags with the silica gel to keep the air out? That's what I did. I used the nibs this time rather than the granules. That may be part of the problem, I don't know. I've used isomalt before and not had this amount of cloudiness. I picked up some more granules and plan to finish a project with isomalt as part of my Halloween set this year. I specifically picked up the silica gel packs that are FDA approved. Will keep you posted on how things go with the isomalt granules and hope to get this particular cookie (actually 2 cookies) completed within the next couple of days .

Thanks again for your helpful comments and the pics. I will take some pics along the way this time as well .
