I really liked the 2 toned imprinted icing effect, so I wanted to experiment with it.

progress pics (sorry about the bad lighting, it was late at night)

So adorable! I think its time for me to break down and get more tools, like stencils and textured mats! All of these entries look like they were fun to make! I absolutely love the two toned textures, they are so beautiful!

Im curious, was the icing easy to microplane? I was considering doing it the other day but assumed the icing would be a bit too fragile and break.

Thanks so much @SherylM for this lovely comment!

It doesn't take much pressure to file RI down. If it's a thick block of RI, you can shave in both directions without much worry. If RI is thin/delicate, be very gentle with a light touch when filing and only shave in the same direction as the teeth. For this project, I broke off small pieces until I was close to the desired shape, then fine filed the rest.

The two-toned icing applied to the textured mats creates a stunning embossed look on the dresses. I especially love the softly rounded raised pattern - it's something that can't be created with stencils. You really have done a wonderful job of decorating these cookies so that they highlight and compliment the textured patterns. Excellent entry!

Thank you very much Christine @Sweet Prodigy! ❤️ I really enjoyed this challenge, and without it, I don't think I would have thought to ever try the two-toned texture technique. It was a bonus being an easy look to pull off...the icing on the textured plastic sheet dried pretty quick and easily popped away from the sheet.

These remind me of ornaments my grandma used to have on her Christmas tree. They are absolutely beautiful. And now I have to go buy texture mats😊💕

Thank you so much @Kyra Manthe for this beautiful and insightful comment! I was going for a timeworn weathered look of a cherished figurine. ❤️

IMO - I think textured plastic mats are underrated...they're cheap, durable, easy to clean and store, and I'm just now starting to realize the many uses.
