This was the batch donated to the community center this past Friday.  The weather has been a bit chilly and it finally became warm so the theme was appropriate.  I did better with the airbrushing this time.  It was as clean as I had hoped - there was plenty of pooling and spreading.  But at least it wasn't as bad as the strawberry disaster.  I think the royal icing transfers added a lot even it makes the surface a bit crowded.  I used Julia @Julia M. Usher cut-out gingerbread recipe with orange blossom icing.  While I had the book out, I noticed the back cover is an off-white shade (the internal pages are white).  It inspired me to make the icing an ivory shade and it ended up being a nice, softer contrast with the spring green.  150 cookies later, it was fun.  I liked playing around with the colors.  And I'm told the cookies were much appreciated. So there you have it.

Phew! Lots of work!

I’m still working on scheduling which is whatI suspect professionals do all the time. There is that short window from the bake to the finished product. My husband and I have agreements about not letting “ hobbies” interfere too much with the regular flow of our lives. I will say, I’ve been pushing it!

I can imagine - that's a lot to push through one's home kitchen on a regular basis. Just my video shoot prep overruns our whole house. I'm thinking of getting a second studio space, but that has its complications too (having had a standalone bakery for 10 years, I know).
