Right now I have been reading the series of  “Witch School”  by Katrina Kahler.   This is for girls’ book because it says so (not for boys, whmmm )

Actually what I made is nothing to do the story of this book and the photos inside it but I am obsessed with witches.   So here we go!  “The Basement”

There are no photos of procedures this time unfortunately.   Most of my time (days) was consumed to sketch what I wanted to express.   Well, I am obsessed with basement, too.

I studied the recommended sites for perspective by Christine of @Bakerloo Station and I learned how to draw rectangular items.  In addition to that I tried followings:

  1. With one black Wilton color gel, how much I can express “depth”
  2. To express things that are not rectangular in perspective
  3. Staircase in perspective

  1.   Thanks to the previous Practice Bakes Perfect Challenge, painting is a little fun for me now and I am pretty satisfied with the result.  It looks like a drawing with a pencil.
  2.   This was hard, I tried many times to draw things by changing angles.   But only awkwardly angled things were born.
  3.   I regret why I thought I was going to do this, once the height of steps got irregular, once it seemed O.K. but I didn’t like the size and I tried to do it again but somehow I couldn’t do what I could do once.

I wanted to add a cute flying witch on a broom and ugly one was trying to catch her.  People in perspective are way beyond what I can do right now.  (next challenge for me)

Oh, I love all the little details - it's just perfect for Halloween!

Thank you, Julia.  I thought dungeon is a spooky basement ... no?  This is not even cookie question but English word.  What I know is I do not want to be in this "basement" , too spooky.   I don't want to open the doors of fridge and drawers.

Yes, "dungeon" is a spooky basement! And this cookie is that!

Oh I love this dear Ryoko @Ryoko ~Cookie Ave.!!! What a fabulous concept and execution 😊. All of the details... my favorite part of looking at decorated cookies... this is perfect for Halloween.

I know what you mean about sketching and feeling like it doesn't look like how you are imagining it in your head. I can get so frustrated!! Your final creation is awesome! I love it ❤❤❤

Thank you, Carol    Happy Halloween, Treat and Treat (I love treat)

I am so relieved I could finish this by closing date, perspective is hard for me.

This is so wonderful as always. I love all the tiny details and perfect perspective effect on all items. What a great concept. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Hi Kanch, thank you🕸🕷

WOW! This is absolutely incredible! This is a masterful example of single-point perspective. You did an incredible job of making sure every single item in this scene has perspective - from the legs of the table to trunk under the book shelves to the wood floor planks. I think that the side room with the staircase is especially impressive. I think your use of shading on the stairs, legs of the table and book case really gives us an additional sense of depth. Finally, I must say this is is just a fabulously spooky Halloween scene. Every little detail and all those shades of grey are ghoulishly delightful! What a great entry to the challenge!

I will be eagerly awaiting your version with the witches!

Thank you, Christine @Bakerloo Station   I gave up adding not only witches, I wanted to put chandelier of bats, bats' eyes are lights and something oozing.... but I just couldn't express what I wanted.  "How can I do?" was echoing in my head.  Every challenge gives me another assignment to me.

By the say, I used sponge and brush for wall.

Persectives are not always easy. You did a really good job on this one. I love the stairs off to the side for added depth. And your shading is perfect.

Oh, thank you Christine.
