I was wondering if there might be a social spot set into place for us cookiers? If there was I completely missed it and apologies.

I would love to read intro threads from everyone, ask silly cookie-related questions- not necessarily technique, but daily cookier life questions. (Like, what do you do while you're decorating? What is your kryptonite as far as designs go? etc etc)

Just a thought! I'd really love to get to know everyone as well as talk techniques and business!

I'd love it. However I have been "dialogue'ing" with some of the people in the board one on one. But this would be even better just to chat and get to know everyone. There's so much to learn and everyone has something to offer. It would be nice to have other cookiers going through some of the same struggles!

Funny - I looked around for something like that today - thought maybe I'd missed it.  I do enjoy the forum sharing though and wouldn't want to take away from the way technique and questions/answers are shared from there.

I think it's a nice idea. I have left several cake groups on FB because of bad behavior and language on the threads. Although I must admit I had learned a trick or two by the more serious members the pricing complaints or who stole my photo or ideas became more negative than any positive flow from the site.

I also saw on the ICES forum they have a time when people can exchange cookies and cutters and other double tools they bring along. I though ,how fun is that. Not to turn any discussion into someones sales corner but to have a Exchange forum for someone that has 10 of the same cutter and might shout it out on that forum. Just a thought.

I love looking at all the beautiful work that the artists here are doing and have made use of a number of the tips and techniques presented but would really like to have the opportunity for cookiespeak.  Friends who don't decorate are usually very complimentary but they don't get the whole picture.  It would be nice to be able to connect with others who share my cookie eye view of the world.

mrshugs, I'm not sure what you're looking for in particular, but you can already create threads in any of the forums to talk about cookie-related matters. This area in particular is a good one for tossing out questions related to the business of cookies: http://cookieconnection.juliau...s-help-needed---stat

This is the concern I have about a social forum. If one is added, it will be governed by all the same policies and procedures applied elsewhere. I don't want it to degrade into a spot to vent and complain in any way. Nor do I want it to become a clearinghouse for sharing personal business (that can be done in private Dialogs) and personal photos (the latter are prohibited due to childhood privacy laws). Fun cookie topics, like an exchange and some of the other things that Butterwinks mentioned, seem like they'd be constructive though.

You asked and we acted!

I just set up a new Member Meetup forum with areas for more casual cookie chats (per ButterWinks suggestion) and exchanges (per Tina's suggestion). I also moved the existing Member News area into this forum.

Please Note: All the rules governing conduct on the site (i.e., being constructive, upholding professionalism, etc.) still apply in the Member Meetup forum. Please re-read our Terms of Use if you are unclear about any of these rules. Posting images of people is also prohibited due to various privacy laws. Personal dialogues that are not cookie-related are best handled via the site's Dialogs feature (upper right corner of site), which allows you to privately talk to one or more members at the same time.

Here's the link to the forum, along with the descriptions of the various areas within it: http://cookieconnection.juliau...tegory/member-meetup.

Thanks for the suggestion! I hope this solution accommodates your requests.
