Hi, all! Just a quick update on what to expect in terms of CookieCon coverage this year. As you probably know, I usually enlist a team of correspondents to cover the event with photos, videos, and blog posts. (You can see all past CookieCon coverage here and here.) Last time, our correspondents even got special "Press Team" t-shirts and lanyards!
Well . . . I've got some good and bad news for you . . . First, the good news! I am teaching at CookieCon this year, which I am tremendously excited about. This is my first time teaching again since I taught at the very first CookieCon. I've also got what I hope will be an interesting presentation about 3-D cookie techniques in the works. In addition to live decorating, it even involves some live baking in a little demo oven that Karen and Mike (the amazing CookieCon organizers) specially brought in! What's more, I'll be conducting not just one, but two sessions during open decorating on Saturday. The first is called "Play-Dough" where conference-goers can get hands-on dough-shaping and baking experience using some of my techniques introduced on Friday. In the second session, I'll be demoing my stencil sets, some of which @Autumn Carpenter will be selling in her booth. (Please check out her Country Kitchen SweetArt booth if you're going to be there!) I'm also doing a $300 stencil giveaway, and handing out hundreds of 20%-off coupons for purchases on my partner Confection Couture Stencils' site. Phew!
Now . . . for the bad news. Seeing as I have a lot of preparation still to do for the event and I am likely to be completely immersed in all of the above activities when there, I sadly do not have the time to enlist and manage a correspondents team this year. I will do my best to post my own photos and updates, if not here, then on my Facebook page. And, I will still be doing my annual Saturday Spotlight recap of the CookieCon Sugar Show. So please do stay tuned for that.
