Wondering if you can get Cookie Connection on your mobile phone or other mobile device? And how the mobile interface differs from the standard one on your laptop?

Okay, then, here's the scoop . . .

  • YES, Cookie Connection can be accessed by any smartphone or tablet, as long as it has a browser! Just enter the site's URL into the browser and hit return. Then be sure you have logged into the site.
  • The Cookie Connection interface is mobile-friendly, meaning that if you are on a smart phone, the phone will be detected, and the site will automatically show up in a mobile format - a format that is compact and easy to read on a small screen (and very different looking than the format you see on your laptop or an iPad, both of which use our standard interface).
  • The mobile interface works on iOS devices like the iPhone and iPod Touch, Android phones, Windows phones, and Opera mobile browsers. Our platform detects and works on other phones as well, but these are the major ones. (Note: Cookie Connection looks and behaves on the iPad just as it does on a laptop, because our standard, non-mobile interface is what's used on that device.)
  • At this time, you can browse the site and add comments via the mobile interface, but you cannot upload files. This is because the upload function currently requires flash, which iOS devices do not support. However, this will soon change (in about 3 months), and then you'll be able to upload clips via the mobile browser as well. NEWS FLASH - YOU CAN NOW (AS OF 10/15/2013) UPLOAD CLIPS AND OTHER FILE TYPES PER THE NEXT COMMENT IN THIS FORUM!
  • Also, if you ever want to see the site in full (standard) view on a mobile device, you can do that by clicking the little gear icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen and choosing the link "Switch to Standard View." To switch back to mobile view, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the link that says "Switch to Mobile Version."

I hope I've given you enough info to enjoy Cookie Connection even when on the run!

If you have other questions about, or issues with, accessing the site with a mobile device, please post them here, and I'll respond (typically) within 24 hours. Thanks!

UPDATE, OCTOBER 15, 2013!

Per an announcement received from Hoop.la (this site's host) today, you'll be pleased (I hope) to hear that the mobile interface was significantly enhanced by adding support for uploads/attachments for any file types supported on your phone. Note that for the iPhone, the only supported file types are photos and videos, because iOS does not support attaching any other types.
