Good morning!

I am making some cookies for a company who sells princess dresses and accessories for little ones, they'll be using them in a photo shoot at the weekend.

I'm a bit in two minds which type of cookie to use, to try and make sure they don't just crumble to nothing in the little one's hands, so it needs to be a sturdier cookie.

I will be baking them a bit longer than usual to make them a bit harder, but I am wondering whether to make vanilla sugar cookies or gingerbread. I would automatically say gingerbread, but my recipe is quite a soft gingerbread and am not sure if that's the way to go. Plus my gingerbread seems to go quite dark when I bake it longer and am not sure they'll look as pretty as I would like them. The vanilla recipe I usually use is LilaLoas with a few tweaks.

I am attaching the cutters I am using - in case that helps.

Any advice, thoughts etc much appreciated as always!

Thank you very much! I was veering towards the vanilla as I think it's quite solid hehe. Great idea with the stick - it might avoid sweaty mitts making them go soggy

You're welcome.  You could even add long thin ribbon to make it look more like a wand.

I don't want to robb you of your illusions... but you don't truly believe that any kind of cookie will survive this, right? As I have a bunch of toddlers in the family I can tell you that the life expectancy of these poor cookies will be very short - no matter how long you bake them or what dough you use

If you want them to survive at least long enough for the shooting, here's what I would do.

1. Double the thickness to 1 cm instead of 0.5 cm

2. Bake them until, they are slightly browned and well done

3. Make at least triple the amount needed, so that a few broken and/or sample tasted ones will make no matter

4. Tell the parents of the toddlers to see that they are well fed before

5. Maybe make a few simple cookies which the children are allowed to eat

6. Pray

Sounds like a fun thing, though!

Best advice ever hahaha and made me laugh so much I already planned to do far more than the lady asked for - knowing full well they will be all over the place, mauled, chewed, trodden on etc. Hopefully one or two will last just long enough

Thanks so much for brilliant advice
